Eviction served!

Found a piece of baling twine hanging out of the pintle. Removed a huge birds nest, three eggs. Couldn't get Beth to go for bacon and eggs for lunch. We've seen what Grandma called a Grackle (black w/yellow beak) hanging around. Now we know why.

I moved the nest to a basket and hung the basket on a tree...mom and dad took care of the little guys.

And that is why I have made an aluminum cover to close off the pin box when parked. Did have a finch family raise two wee ones on top of our kitchen slide while.parked for two months in santa fe. Oh well, sometimes you can't notice in time to stop a nest construction. John

John, How did you attach your cover? Have only had a nesting problem once, but when two flew out that first time, well... I'm still suffering from it. Do you have any photos?
