When I was "copping" in Detroit, we were dispatched to a robbery and attempted car theft. The victim was sitting in his car when we arrived and, as we checked him and his car, we found a wallet in the back seat. Asked the victim if it were his and he said he never saw it before. Guess who's it was. It must have fallen out of the bad guy's pocket when the victim fought back. We didn't have to work very hard to close that one out.

Many years ago as a street officer I received a hold up call to a laundry. I was the first officer on the scene and immediately began to get information from the laundry clerk who was held up. I had to put out a broadcast.. age, ht, wt, desc., clothing desc., weapon, and direction of travel.
As I was talking to her she said "You want his name?"
"Sure, how do you know his name" I replied.
She said he came in and picked up his laundry and paid for it and then pulled out a pistol and robbed her.
I picked him up at his house about 30 minutes later and charged him with armed robbery.
These kind of people are still in the gene pool.
Hugh

The gene pool is pretty shallow in some places - more like a gene puddle.
