Prodigy Settings

If you have the Prodigy Break Controller what setting are you using? I know it depends on the weight of the trailer, but have not yet put it on a scale. Thanks Ron

You don't need the weight of the trailer. The instructions tell you to hook-up to the trailer and with the boost setting on b0 and engine running and manual brake lever on full adjust the power to 6.0 on indicator. Then drive the truck and trailer and put the manual lever on full and see if the wheels lock up. The idea is to adjust the power level just short of wheel lockup. The boost is then adjusted while driving and using the truck brake pedal. Try b1 first and see if you feel the trailer brakes coming on first and then b2 until you feel the trailer brakes coming on first. My Prodigy adjusted out at about 9.0 power level and b2 on the boost level.

My Montana is pretty heavily loaded so I set mine so that I feel the trailer brakes engaging just before the truck brakes. There are three levels and I run mine at 6.3.

I have the P3, the latest version of the Prodigy, and am having to run it at max and boost 3. While we're here I'll be checking and adjusting brakes as there is no way I should have to run that controller all the way at max.

All rigs are different, if I were you, I'd get the directions and set the Prodigy accordingly. If you have problems, the folks at the toll free number provide good help.

I have a f350 7.3 pulling a 3575RL. GCVWR is 20040. I run my prodigy at Boost 3 and 7.3. I think I may be a tad tight and will go a little lighter next trip out.
