Montana 3075 or 3400 pin weights

Later this year I am thinking of upgrading from my Cougar 294RLS tt to a Montana 3075 or 3400 5er. I am getting a new tv in the next 2 weeks. I am thinking of a Ford 350 Lariat LB or SB, 6.4l diesel 4x2.

Why a 4x2?The 4x2 will provide a distance between the 5er and the sides of the bed of about 6 in. (the 4x2 bed sides are about 54 in from the ground, 4x4 are about 58.5 in, Montana about 60 in.)

I am expecting a pin weight of about 2400 lbs, loaded 5er GVW of about 12,000 lbs.

Does this sound about right to you folks? Any comments or advise?

Thanks for the help.

The pin weight of our 3075 is 2210 when loaded and ready to travel. We do travel light, but have everything we need. A F-350 would be a good choice and have plenty of extra capacity

Your pin estimate sounds about right (average) - at least for the 3400 (not sure on the other). It really depends on how much stationary and portable equipment gets placed forward of the axles (gen - W/D - tools, etc)

Not sure I agree with your height estimate. We have the F350 4X4 and have more than "2-fists" (6") clearance between the monty and the bed rails. If you saw one with only 2", the hitch or pin are not correctly adjusted.

Your numbers look good to me,...other than it's an F350 rather than a C3500! A one ton is the way to go

I opted for the 2wd because I'm on truck #7 and never had 4wd, never had a use for it and never would have used it if I had it. Strictly personal preference, lots of folks never leave home without it.

Your pin weight it about right for the 3400, can't help on the 3075. However, since the empty pw on the 3075 is 235 more than the 3400, it's probably a bit more.
