Toilet Seats

I have read the other threads on this topic, but I don’t think my experience is lining up with what others have posted. I have a Thetford Aqua Magic Style II toilet for which I’d like to find a wooden seat. I have bought and returned 3 different seats from big box stores. The elongated shape is too long. The round shape is not wide enough towards the back, and also leaves a gap between the back of the seat and the back rim of the bowl. Others have mentioned being able to use a “standard” toilet seat from the big box stores. If you have, has it been for a Thetford toilet?

The best way to get a good seat is to buy a Dometic and throw the Tetford out. If you check past posts on Tetfords you'll find overflowing toilets, not holding water in the bowl, exploding flush mechanisms just to name a few of the issues you don't want to experience.

When we got rid of the failed Thetford toilet in our rig and went with the Dometic 310, I figured the plastic seat wouldn’t last very long and would get their wood seat as a replacement. That was close to seven years ago and the plastic seat is still working very well. At least, Dometic has a wood seat for those that prefer that.

The Aqua Flood WILL fail. Change it out. ASAP.

We have an early 2018, not sure what toilet it has, but after the first long trip I replaced the cheap plastic seat with a soft close seat and got it a Lowes. And you are right it doesn't fit perfectly, but it is pretty close. Odd shape/size bowel.

We have a conventional, non elongated wood seat from Lowe's on our Thetford (which is a 2014 warranty replacement). The only thing we had to do is add some more rubber bumpers (Lowe's/Home Depot) since the existing ones on the seat were set too far inboard and slipped inside the toilet bowl top. Oh, and the Thetfords all don't leak either(yet)

As opposed to normal shaped bowel? Sorry, couldn't resist!

I think you may choose something interesting as a seat. There are lots of models with heating settings and automatically open. You always may order not standard seas for your toilet.

Did I mention seats with LED toilet nightlight? I think it's also a good option, which you may bare in mind.
