Do rally camp sites have a fire ring?
Another first timer question - I haven't found anything that says if the camp sites have fire rings or not. Mainly interested in it for using a dutch oven for cooking for the various pot lucks versus personal campfires.

Simple answer - no. There is a group campfire ring near the large tent that Keystone supplies (w/wood) for everyone to gather around each night. We tried smaller rings scattered around the site for a couple of years, & it was felt that the group ring worked better for all to gather around...

You might want to contact Joe in Texas on the dutch oven cooking. He is an avid dutch oven cooker. He somehow managed to use his dutch oven and cook up some great food last year for the Rally.

Mark,
No fire pits because the camp sites are so close together.
You could use a DO cooking table to charcoal on at your site or go over to the area where they have the group camp fire every night to cook. That's where you would dump your ashes.
I store most of my dutch oven items (ovens and table) and do not haul them on this long trip due to weight. But we bring just one #12 oven.
We also found that there is so much going on that crock pot/slow cooker was more convenient for preparing potluck items.

Thanks all - I guess crock pot will be the answer. Not the same, oh well, but less monitoring at least.
