Dieselguy,
I am just about finished building a cabinet for our new icemaker to sit on and now I see this. This is a great idea! I will be starting on this tomorrow. At least I saw this before I put all the tools away. LOL. Thanks for an elegant solution!!! Did I already say, "This is a great idea!"?

Dieselguy - that looks fantastic! I think you should go into production as an aftermarket product. I would buy one, two, three, even one for the skylight if they were available.

Just curious. What is the purpose? If it is to keep out the heat, why not use one of the vent cushions you can get a CW? Looks good though, nice job. We are early risers so we are up before the sun so the light doesn't bother us.

Bill and Ann: Given the chance, we can examine the inside of our eyelids well into the morning! ! It's just an upscale version of the silver solar cover that I used to have up there for years. I figured if I can spend $30 -$40K on a fiver, I could surely cover the skylight with something better than a piece of foil held up with velcro.

Powertools are a wonderful thing...I love seeing what people come up with. That looks like a nice solution too dieselguy. Especially that you can open it up for airflow.
I'm one of those that wakes up at first light, so keeping that one dark right over my head is a must.
Right now I have some package paper taped over it experimenting...

Dieselguy,
I finished my version of your mod today and got it installed. My wife loves it!!! We're off to the lake for Labor Day. I'll get some pictures up next week. Thanks again for a great idea.

Very nice. If we still had the skylight over the bed, I'd have to have that, but the Penguin blocks the light rather well.

The opening over the bed doesn't bother us as much as that skylight over the shower.
In the heat we're in, it's like a sauna in the shower. Have air on, vent open and fan running. Still hot. I'm not into cold showers so who has done something to fix that problem?

This was posted earlier, but I'll revisit it ... take the inner skylight frame down and put a layer or two of the 1" bubble wrap packaging inbetween it and the outer lense ... button her back up. Makes a world of difference in the amount of heat that the skylight lets in!
