Improve the quality of your black tanks you use
Our black tank cracked at the exhaust neck before the gate. There is no reason why this should have occurred other than bad quality and construction (cheap tanks). $700, a month of waiting for the part to be delivered from Montana, lack of use for 6 weeks in the summer and the stress related to this kind of failure are not at all appreciated!

Mine cracked in the same area as yours while I was at Quartsite last year. I repaired it with Epoxy that I purchased at Wal Mart and have taken five trips since the repair and all is well. Now I must tell you it is not a pleasant task to do the repair because you have to pull down the under belly panels and have an empty tank to work with. You must rough up the area with a wire wheel first and then the epoxy repair will hold. Cost less than $20.00 to repair it, but took a few hours. I did call Keystone but they denied warranty on this issue.

I had pulled the underbelly. Did look at your post regarding your fix and felt it was to much of a risk if the fix didn't hold. These tanks are cheap. They cost about a 1/3 of normal tanks but it appears reflected in the quality. I am not at all pleased that this has happened but I am pissed at Montana that they first shipped the wrong tank to the dealer then said they shipped it for weeks when it was on back order with their sub. Six weeks of the summer and a few planned trips that we haven't been able to use our trailer and more wasted time than I'd like to share in chasing this.

315RLS,
I realize you are addressing Keystone here but like Doug I had a problem with one of my tanks. The gray tank developed a leak exactly as you describe. Checked with my RV dealer and they wanted from 500 to 800 for replacement tank! I did the patch thing like Doug. It has worked just fine so far. Cost was about 30 bucks since I messed up the first time around..... otherwise cost would have been about half that! Other tanks so far have checked out OK.
Good luck.

We had the same problem with our black tank, which Bob repaired with Marine Tex and 5200 and running support joists under the tank. He tried several RV products first, then resorted to the good old boat products. To date we have had no more problems.
