Cracking Fiberglass
Would have posted a pic however our site has no provisions for that. I have the 3655fl (This is the upper living room model) and recently after a short trip of around a hundred or so miles I have developed a crack that runs 45deg front to rear from the bottom edge of the upper slide Drivers side. At current the crack is 3 inches in length and maybe .0010 of inch wide at its widest point. I marked the end of the crack, took the rig for a short drive, and noticed it has increased in length. I looked closely for frame cracks in the front storage compartment, in the basement area and road or main frame sections. In the basement area on the aluminum side of things, if I look very close I see what may be stress cracks at the welds. Note if these are cracks they are extremely fine. Not sure if anyone else has had similar issues, search revealed no hits, a modified search showed our one friend with the frame cracks that supported the outer wall. I have not as of yet removed the cover by the hitch to examine this area. any thought would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

The crack in the filon skin on the lower left corner of the bedroom slide was pretty common till about 05 (???) when they put an expansion seam in the filon skin in that area. I know you have the front living room model, but the slides are in about the same place. My 2000 2850RK developed one about 2 years into ownership, but Keystone paid for the repair. Do a search for cracks in the skin ... some of the old posts should show up. I had no frame cracks ... just the flexing of the skin in that area along with the narrow dimension of the skin there.

Thanks for the reply... I'll do some lookin!!!....
And did, did not come up with much of any thing, even reduced teh verbage to "cracks in the" Looks like the short of it so far is to give Keystone a buzz on the phone to see if this is a known issue, and if so how to go about repairs. I know I can drill a small hole at the end of the crack, and fill it with an epoxy then touch up the area with a little paint. just not sure thats going to fix the root cause.

Frankinstein,
You might try searching "bedroom slide cracks." There's a lot here.

When searching be sure to click that little box beside the words "ARCHIVE". It hides there, but increases chances of hits.
Good luck.
Oh, and our early 2004 has that fix for the crack that dieselguy is describing.

It seems they installed a expansion joint on the units which had cracking as dieselguy mentioned. My 03 has one that was on the unit when we purchased new in 04. I knew about the problem thanks to this forum and mentioned my concern to the salesman. He indicated the expansion joint solved the problem. They must have as we have not had a problem.
