Washer/Dryer recommendations?
I'm retiring in January and my wife and I plan to spend lots of time on the road. I'm thinking I might get her a very un-romantic Christmas gift of a washer/dryer for the RV and I'm looking for any recommendations.
Considerations include:
- Cost
- Ease of installation
- Effective use (does it work well)
- Availability
- Does it travel well?
- Will it last?

We bought a Splendide combo unit. If you do a large load it will wrinkle, if you keep the loads medium/smaller it is awesome. Takes longer to do a load due to a combo, but saves space and when we do sheets etc we go to the laundry. My DW is happy with it.

Splendide for sure, we've had three. The two separate units work much better than a single unit that washes and dries. The D/W will love it.

DW really likes our splendide washer and dryer. I watched videos about the install. The hardest part for me was going to be cutting the hole for the dryer vent. DW STRONGLY ENCOURAGED me to pay someone to do the install rather than do it myself. She knows my skill level all too well. I think I paid an RV Service shop $250 to do the install. I bought the units from Camping World and had them delivered to my house. My son helped me load the boxed units into the RV. I took the RV to Auer’s RV service a few miles from my house (had an appointment) and dropped it off in the morning, then picked it up that afternoon.

Splendide vented combo for us also. Wife loved it. Still working great after 14 years when we sold the trailer.
We were sometimers. Got the combo as that’s all we had room for. Get the separate units (vented) if you have space available.

We have splendide combo has worked great for us. I would stay away from ventless model and stick to vented. just so you know you can't do big loads, as far as wrinkles you can use dryer balls which helps with that, doesn't eliminate wrinkles but it's not as bad.

We have the two separate Splendide units and they work fantastic. Going on 5 years old and still going strong.

Washer drains to which tank?
2022 3121RL. Also considering a separate washer-dryer set. Monti is pre plumbed in bedroom closet. My question, what tank does the washer drain into?

I propose a counterpoint.
Cons:
Extra weight.
Loss of storage space.
Vibration/noise.
Depending on # of loads, you could spend the day doing laundry. Going to a laundromat, I can use several washers/dryers at one time and be done in 2 hours or less.
Cost compared to laundromat - for the price of a combo unit, I can do approximately 400 loads at a laundromat.
Just my 2 cents

Good question. Most, I think, go to the grey tank. But some have reported theirs went to their black tank. And some as I remember went direct to the sewer outlet, bypassing any tanks.
You would have to experiment to find out for sure. Or drop the belly cover and see the pipe.

First time we used our washer we found out it drains to the black tank. We can do 2 washes before I need to drain it.

Splendide stackable, vented for us also. It was one of our better decisions, especially since we are about 99% full timing.
If you plan on using your camper long term (like several weeks at a time before returning "home") or full timing, then having an on-board washer and dryer is is priceless. If you are a week-end camper, or the 2 week a year vacation camping person, then a washer and dryer is probably not a "necessary: item as you can schedule laundry days when returning home and over a two week period, maybe one run to the laundry mat or camp ground laundry if they have one.
If your camper has a pre-installed area for a washer/dryer hook up then you are well on your way. Ours did not come with the washer and dryer, but it did have the hook-ups. We used that space blankets and sheets until we got the units. Then the washing machine itself became the laundry hamper, and not having to hang things around to dry cleaned up a lot of messy looking camper. When the washer gets full, simply add the soap, push the button and go on your business. Come back a little later and put it in the dryer, press the button and forget it. Come back later when you need a clean pair of underware and simply pull it out of the dryer.
In the long run, having a washer and dryer and using it like this actually saves space. It did result in down sizing the amount of clothing we had to lug around with us, because we can wash it immediately and wear it again. Or towels gets washed and dried immediately, so we don't need to carry a 2 week supply any more. Or if we get caught in a rain, or go swimming, we can toss those wet clothes directly in the dryer and not have stuff hanging around the camper, inside or outside, to dry out.
Yes, the initial cost of the machines will challenge your financial reserves. But as everything about our campers, you have to determine if the price is worth the experience (or in this case ... lack of laundry mat experience) ....
Splendide is going to be your best choice for RV travel.

X2 on laundromat vs on board W/D. True there is ongoing costs but they pale in comparison to W/D replacement and maintenance costs over the life cycle of those appliances. Let somebody carry that burden. The inconvenience of a laundromat is minor relatively speaking if you combine grocery shopping or other activities with it to be more cost effective if you have to leave a CG to do laundry. Bonus you get more onboard storage space if you need it.

On my 2019 3120, the washer drains into the bathroom / shower tank.

Agree with other posters on the Splendide.
We have the vented combo. For our needs, it is perfect.
I installed it myself. Biggest issue is where to cut the vent hole. I was about an inch from disaster, but all turned out great.
I posted about the installation with some pictures a few year ago.
