What I would like to see is a big Ecoboost engine. Take the 6.7 Diesel put on new heads and make it a Ecoboost. It would be easy to put out 500 HP and 800 pound feet of torque and put out 90% of its power from 2500 RPMs to 5000 RPMs. I have 2 Ecoboost engines now, a 2 L and a 2.7. The 2.7 has 325 HP with 375 pound feet of TK and that is on low test on 93 octane it puts out even more HP.

Pretty incredible what they are squeezing out of these small engines. Back in the day we thought it was great to get 250 HP out of a 327 Chevy. That's about 5.4 L in today's numbers.

I think the 327 is one if the finest engines ever 4 inch bore and a 3 inch stroke. My little 2.7 is only 164 cubic inches. To show how incredible these engines are, we go up a long straight road up a mountain. Our 3.5 Ford Edge and our Nissan Murano would go up it 3500 RPMs at 55 MPH the Ford Escape 2 L will go up there at 2200 RPMs.

327 was a great engine but was 4" bore 3 1/4" stroke. 4" bore by 3" stroke is a 302" or 5 liter.

2015 F-350 with the 6.7 pulls my fiver and jeep like its not even there. up hills or down, set the cruise on at truck will maintain that. Amazing power.

I must agree this engine is a brut. The 2017 has even better torque 925 as aposed to 860. I love my 2015.

Ford F series 2017.
I learned a couple of things today about the all aluminum body. You can't just put 5th wheel hitch rails in the bed. There is a special kit that isn't out yet to make it work.
Secondly, if you want to transfer your hitch and rails over to a ford, you need the bed Without the 5th wheel hitch holes already drilled by ford.
Then there is, right now ford is offering a 0% 72 month plan for up to '16s NOT '17s.
Lastly, the torque on the '17 is just about 965ft. pounds....wow.
I looked a new '17 today and out the door, with my sisters discount from ford ONLY $60K....pretty much had everything on this lariat. I'm only $59K short.

So Edie there is a chance you can still get one. It is interesting to hear about the fifth-wheel mounting issues. If I get one I am planning on having the Ford under the bed mount. I also like the factory seven prong Bargeman mounted above the bumper and also in the bed. The sticker shock is hard to get over but when I look at what most average cars are going for I can understand it. I will say that the bed and body seem to be quite firm when I put a little pressure against them. The sixteen year gap in technology between what I have and the new ones is what blows me away. I am talking frame, running gear and also the creature comforts.

You can't have the steel and aluminum touching it cases galvanic corrosion. That is worse than rust. As far as I know it hasn't been a problem with the F150 or other aluminum cars. It not a problem with my F150 but you haft to be careful. Companies that design products for these trucks know the problem and design with this in mind.

Just bought a 2016 F350, Was given a choice between 0% for 72 months or $6000.00 in rebates providing you finance thru Ford Credit at 6.9%
Settled on option #3; take the $6000.00 in rebates and refinance thru my own bank for 1.9%

Congratulations Pete on your new truck. If I was really ready to buy at this time it would be a tuff decision on deciding to go with the great discounts on the 16 or go with the new generation 17 SuperDuty. Both of them would be wonderful. Compared to my old 2000 7.3 either of them would be a totally new driving and towing experience. I am kind of wondering when Ford and Chevy will start putting their joint designed new transmissions into the new trucks. I have heard seven or eight gears.

The 6 speed like is in my 2015 F150 and the new 10 that is just now being offered in the 2017 F150 are a GM and Ford design.

We are fulltime and just bought a 2016 F350 DRW in Indiana in August. We really like the way it handles, but the fuel mileage when not towing is a little less than I expected. I get 10+ pulling the trailer and 13-15 when not towing. Had a Chev before and was getting 15-18 when not towing, and 10 when towing.
We pull a 3750FL and will soon be pulling a 3950RD, like next week. We'll see if the new trailer makes a difference.

Milford, your mileage may improve with a few more thousand miles. Ours did, and it seems to be somewhat common on the Ford Truck forums also. Congratulations on your new truck.
