Workamping this winter

Since the financial situation is the way it is nationally and the home sales situation is in the toilet we will HAVE to workamp this winter. We have done all the eastern states east of the Mississippi this year we are heading west and south for the winter. We will be willing to work in TX,NV,NM or AZ. We plan on doing the balloon rally in NM in Oct but after that we will be available for the remainder of the winter. Any suggestions will be appreciated, we will investigate all suggestions. Thanks..... Dave and Betsy

Have you looked at being a "gate guard"?

Subscribe to "Workcamper News"- Then you can read the openings every day on the internet- We continue to subscribe even though we are committed for the upcoming winter- We got our present position that way- Don

I second the suggestion on Workcamper News. Also might try picking out a few campgrounds near where you want to be and give them a call inquiring about work camping.

We were gate guards last winter in south Texas and enjoyed it, but it is not for everyone, be sure you know what you are getting yourselfs into before going. You can check out our blog (link in our sig) starting Nov. 1st and get a feel for the job.

I have signed on to work at Amazon in Kentucky for the Christmas rush so we can be close to family this Christmas. We will most likely head back to the oil fields for a few months afterwards. We were just discussing and started researching what our next summer commitment might be.

Good luck on your search,

Phil

X2 on check campgrounds where you would want to be and workamper news. Last winter in Tonopah (the campground Ozz and Sue like so much) the folks working the front desk and escort got the job by just asking at the front desk.

Dave, if you don't need to earn money, just a campsite for trade of hours, check out www.volunteer.gov/gov. You can search by state or by entity. Most will be volunteer jobs, but, like I said, if you don't need money. . .

We've gotten our leads both from Workamper.com and asking the owners of campgounds we've stayed at. Once you've worked at a campground and had done a good job, the word gets around and you'll be able to work almost anywhere! We've worked in FL and WI.
Good luck!
