How to find the gathering
To find the MOC gathering you need to go East on Plomosa Rd. 2.9 miles (if you see the "3 Mile" marker), you have gone too far.
Turn left off Plomosa Rd. go about 75 yards North then turn left along the main path. The gathering site is about 1/4 mile due West up against the camping boundary markers.
The GPS coordinates are:
N-33 Degrees 46.022'
W-114 Degrees 10.628'
The MOC Logo is the sign to be looking for when you are on Plomosa Rd. in Quartzsite. This is last years picture so the other signs will be different or not there.
If you are looking for Plomosa Rd. with your GPS, use Parker, AZ as the town.

OK Doug, we take Plomosa Road off of what road. Any help would be great for us that are directionally challenged. Jackie said don't look at her when I said "directionally challenged", got myself in hot water again.
See you Wednesday the 14.

Dick: I don't know where you are coming from. But Plomosa Road is off HWY-95 in AZ (not the HWY-95 in CA), about 7 miles North of Quartzsite. HWY-95 intersects I-10 in Quartzite. While the various map programs show Plomosa Road going West from HWY-95, it really only exists to the East.
It is well marked and fairly easy to find. There will be RVs parked at the intersection of HWY-95 and Plomosa Road.
P.S. Plomosa Road is paved, so if you see a dirt road with RVs parked there, that's not it. It likely is Hi Jolly, the BLM campground area, a couple of miles South of Plomosa Road.
If you want my cell number as a further backup, PM me.

Hey, what datum are you using? My stuff shows 33.46.022 as south of I-10. Plomosa Rd shows as 33.74.XXX. HELP!

Brad, look for the group in the same general area that we were in last year. Carl will be along shortly to tell you about datum.
Dick, Carl is right on with his directions.
See you all on the 14th.

Brad,
I have:
N33 45.985
W114 10.589
Go, [s]~3+ (?)[/s] 6.6 miles North on Arizona Hwy 95 from Quartzsite. Polmosa road is on the east side of Hwy 95 (right turn). On google it is labeled differently says (Bouse-Quartzsite Rd). There are only two right-hand turns on Hwy 95. You DONT want the first one (dirt), the second one is labeled POLMOSA Road, turn right there.
Travel east on Polmosa road about 2.95 miles, if you get to the 3.0 state marker you have gone too far. Turn left, we should have the MOC sign out there by then, but there is a BLM sign that says 815 (brown stake). The road veers to the left, stay left, down about 1/4 mile.
If you are directionally challenged, you can call us on the cell phone and we'll come get you.
Robbie

Robbie,
Not to quibble but isn't the Plomosa Rd. cutoff about 6 miles not 3? But it's been a whole year since I was there so my senior CRS brain could be way off on that mileage thing.
We actually have sunshine here today! It's been almost a month since we've had such a thing! Can hardly wait til we get to Q! Weather report shows you folks with some really nice weather.
Later.
Dennis

Brad: I don't know what datum means. These are the coordinates given by a Garmin Nuvi 650 and two different Garmin 60CSx GPS' devices. If I use Streets and Trips and set the GPS locator (Pull down Tools --> Options and select the Settings tab) to use N/E/S/W and Degrees/minutes/seconds I get a similar (but not exactly the same) reading for the point where we are.
I know we had this problem last year, I just don't remember why there are different values for the same location.

I thought the distance was more like 7 miles from the turn onto Hwy-95 in Quartzsite. Streets and Trips says it is 5.6 miles. Maybe one of us will actually check it using an odometer in the next day or so.
Plomosa Road is the first paved road to the East after you pass the Fire Station in Quartzsite. You really can't miss it.

Calculated it yesterday, and changed my post.
It is 6.6 miles from the intersection of Arizona Hwy 95 to the right turn at Polmosa Road.
Thanks for checking on me, Dennis!

Brad and Carl, The datum reference only affects positions measured in UTM's not in Lat. Long. It relates to the originating point of reference for UTM measurements.

Datum does make a differnce. I can remember how far off it will put you but in a class I took for the fire service it was an important item to check.
