All rigs heading south?? LOTS OF RIGS

Roads: US 12 from Tipton to Coldwater, then south on I 69 to Indianapolis, then I 70 to Effingham Illinois and I 57 south. Currently in Mount Vernon Illinois, one other Montana here.

Last night in Aurora Illinois, saw one of our types of rigs (do not want to specify which), towed by a short bed, something or other, was our model, 3295, had 2 peddle bikes hanging from the very top of the ladder in the rear of rig and a HUGE motorcycle on a rack via a rear hitch thingy (I am getting tired, so fill in correct terms, please. ) Same rig had a large dog running around the campground, no leash, and I don't think the owner knew where dog was. Maybe dog got out, but scare the beejeebies out of me and Miss Tilly was in her possive mode, as in, this is my campsite, get out!

Anyway, TONS of rigs, of every make and model running down the road, Snow birds, Winter Texans, heading south!

See ya

Glad that ya'll made the "Great Escape" before this next round rolled into your area. Sounds like Colorado is in for another huge mess.

Carol, Aurora is the place of my birth. Where did you stay when you were there?

Judy,

There is a KOA there, believe it is rather new???? Open all year around, only aboaut 100 miles from our stick built. The worst part of us is getting on the road. We did all the winterizing of the house, etc. and then drove just 100 miles, honkered down for the night and rested big time! Worked great for us.

Be a few days yet Kim,

We are gonna run down to Missouri and then honker down for two nights, hopefully for the duration of that nasty storm that is brewing. We have a couple of stops to see friends, and then a few more days running. We are scheduled in on the 3rd, but doubt we will arrive that day. When we know more, we will contact the front office with details.

See ya soon!

Hey, Carol, ten miles or 100 miles, you're out of the house and that's what is important! Safe travels!

We changed parks today in Florida and had to drive about 50 miles on I-75. Every other vehicle was an RV heading south and one out of four were Montanas. Unbelievable.

Lots of rigs, yep, saw several more Montana rigs, not even bothering to count em!

Currently sitting on the banks of the Mississippi River, waiting for the weather reports tomorrow AM in Arkansas. I hear the storms in Dallas right now are bad bad bad. Some of that is supposed to slip up to Little Rock area, how soon is the question. Being retired, Al does not care to drive in that, so, if it does not blow through tonight, we will sit here one more night. Our best thoughts to those of you who might be in the danger zone tonight.

Figure it will be at least the 3rd before we hit Mission, as we do have a few stops to make first.

Kathy, yes, the KOA looks rather new, and is open ALL YEAR LONG! (Or at least they are now). Finding a campground that is open, even if it is only gonna offer electric is a chore that far north and at this time of the year. Several other campgrounds that we are aware of have closed, not enough business I guess. The 100 mile first day drive worked really well for us, each has to do their own thing, but we like it!

Dale, we would be happy to have you along for the trip! Would even buy ya your first huge bag of those grapefruit!

We are holding tight in Missouri today, waiting for that mess in Arkansas to pass, Al says he just does not feel like running in 2.5 inches of rain accompanied by 30 plus MPH winds. This has been one nasty storm, so, we wait. The dogs will appreciate a day out of Big Butt, but may not like it so much if they knew I was considering a little bit of groomin! NO MOM, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!

Small campground here, 30 some sites, but NICE!!! Was another Montana in here, but they were gone by 7 AM.

Safe rides all.

Hope you don't get into any of the 40 - 50 MPH winds from the south we have been getting the last couple of days. If so you might as well park and wait it out. Buy grapefruit and oranges...who does that in Tx.?
Safe travels Al and Carol ... see you in the Valley..Happy New Year

This monster storm is why we are sitting today. From the forecasts, we will get hit later today, but not the amounts of rain they are predicting for Little Rock, still, glad we are sitting on a concrete pad! Course, the Mississippi is within stone tossing distance, so, hope she behaves and stays on her side of the levie! GULP! Time will tell if we made a good decision or not. The wind factor was one of the reasons we are not traveling today, as we all know, it is a bit difficult to know how strong the winds really are until ya stop for fuel.

Our reservation is for the 3rd, if everything goes according to plan B (which we are now in), then we will arrive the 5th.

The kids seem to be happy to be sitting here, but I don't have the comb out yet!

Happy New Year to you as well Bill & Ann, and all of MOC!

Safe travels Carol and Al.

We saw a lot of rigs heading south as we were coming north for Christmas, and a lot more after Christmas as we headed still further north and east to visit our son in Ottawa. We are back home now, and will be heading the right way (i.e. south) very soon. We should be in Mission for the second week of January if all goes well.

Definitely wishing you all safe travels. We'll miss seeing everyone in the valley but are looking forward to discovering Arizona. Sounds like you made a good decision, Carol and Al. We're in San Antonio and the weather has included rain and wind but all within tolerable limits.
