Mr heater as a backup

Has anyone added a Mr Heater Big Buddy as a backup to their heating system?
While boondocking when it’s cold I was thinking about using one of these catalytic heaters so that my heater doesn’t cylcle so much during the night.
Thanks thoughts?

Yes. I have one. They work great but you still need to run your furnace some in weather that is much below 32 to keep your plumbing from freezing.

I removed the heater from our other trailer and installed a catalytic heater. Worked great. The mister heater would be useful. Just follow all the safety precautions.

Because we typically boondock rather than camp with hook-ups, we use a Mr. Heater as our primary heater (we rarely use the furnace). I've added a quick-connect propane fitting T-ed in to the stove propane line) so that I can easily plug the heater in. It brings our entire rig up to a comfortable temperature quickly and is totally silent.

Thegumbos sounds exactly like I camp. We use the furnace very little and other heat sources a lot. The eyes on the stove first thing in the morning then Mr Buddy
But you must be careful you don’t let the pipes freeze. We have got up in the morning with water frozen in the sink but have never had a pipe to freeze and bust.

Well that helps for sure!! I will definitely keep an eye on the waterlines freezing and take some comfort in knowing others have gone this direction.

Thank you
Tom
