Dometic 15K AC Replacement
Our Rear Dometic 15K AC stopped working and needs replacement on our 2014 3735MK (Compressor wouldn't start and couach would quickly have a strong electrical burning smell). The RV Repair shop removed the AC planning to replace with a 15K Dometic Brisk Air unit. Upon removal they said they needed to order another model to be compatible with the ducting and mounting. They ordered a Dometic Bizzard NXT for ducted application that they say is needed to correctly fit my ducted system.
Any information on the Dometic Blizzard NXT 15K and whether this is a satisfactory replacement would be appreciated. Apparently there is some reason the Brisk Air would not work?
Thanks for any enlightenment .

The Blizzard NXT 15K Btu with Heat Pump came factory on our '19 310RE.
It does a very good job and is the quietest unit in any camper we've owned.
If I were installing or replacing a unit it would definitely be with the Blizzard NXT.

Hmmm...we currently have the Blizzard with heat pump on the rear of our coach and it's our only AC. Through our dealer I asked to have them install a 2nd AC in our bedroom that would tie into the same duct system and they ordered the Brisk Air II. I guess I better double check with them that it will work correctly with our ducts.

My guess would be that adding it to the existing ducts would be easier than matching it to the ductwork already set for a different unit.

Thanks, Dick, that's my hope. We discussed tying the new AC into the racetrack ducts and they said this would work.
For the OP, I'm not sure how to grade my Blizzard. I'm not convinced it's performing as well as I would expect. For instance, today was about 82 degrees and we were in direct sun. With our single AC running all day it was still about 80 degrees inside.

It will be nice when someone makes a mini split unit specifically for RVs. The race track duct system would be perfect.
Mini splits use way less electricity and are perfect for boondocking. They just need to make a roof mount air handler/evaporator unit that will fit our duct system.

I think something is wrong with your unit, thermostat or ductwork. We almost always see around a 10 degree differential in direct sunlight and more in the shade using just the main unit.
I think our campers our almost identical in size just a different layout.
Something is not right.
These Thermostats are a known issue. Ours sometimes cycles the compressor off while leaving only the fan running if left in the auto setting. I can set the fan to high or low and the compressors stays running until desired temp is reached. This has only occurred a few times
and has seemed to have cured itself for now. lol

Blizzard NXT not blowing cold air
2016 305RL, disk brakes, second AC penguin II 13,500, with wall thermostat hooked into duct system, cheep heat furnace add on,
JBM wiring for 2 ac to work on separate 20 amp service if needed, 400 watts renogy solar panels, 2010 ram 3500 4wd CC, dually, 4:10 gears, Yukon free spin hubs, proweld aux transmission cooler, ATS deep pan for automatic Trans:
Main AC compressor runs but no cold air, had replaced original thermostat to new style static controller, changed it out to a easy touch thermostat, these work great, can set high low temp- and will auto change from AC to heat pump or furnace.
Dometic 15000 blizzard NXT lost freon. getting new one next week.

A Mini Split is just a standard heat pump physically reconfigured, no new technology. It has no more efficiency than a modern HVAC heat pump, it's just smaller, cheaper (up front cost) to install until you want to condition something other than a single room. The cost per BTU/Sq-ft is about 30% higher than a HVAC system. Essentially the units we have are mini splits with everything in one package and about the same price for 15000 BTU.
