Rear marker lights

Just replaced both rear side marker lights on our 2019 Montana 391RD. Both were not working. When I removed the lenses, they were both rusted and completely destroyed. Funny thing is, none of the orange markers lights or the red markers along the rear roof line had the same issue. Anybody else experience this? BtW, I put a bead of silicon caulk along the top lenses seem to prevent any water infiltration in the future.

I removed ALL of the incandescent junk clearance lights and threw them in the closest receptacle. Bought LED replacement fixtures and spent an afternoon fixing a lifetime of future frustration. Amazed that they still put this crap on 100k 5th wheel trailers.

I guess I forgot to mention, The two light I replaced were LED. Both were out and completely corroded inside. I inspected all others and they were fine. Just weird that it was only those two light that were so corroded.

Hmm. I also forgot to mention that my replacement lights aren't just LED bulbs, they're sealed.

A while back Montana put out a Tech service bulletin to remove the rear LED lights foam rubber gasket between the LED lights and the rear wall. They then used silicone sealant around the LED light assembly to prevent water intrusion.
In my case they replaced both lights.

I don't know about the LED markers, but some time back Keystone mounted both marker and scare light UpSide Down. There was a small drain hole/notch in the bottom of the lenses and the way they mounted them that drain hole was on top, thus allowing water to enter and corrode things.
The lenses were clearly marked show TOP, guess Keystone need to do a reading test with new employees.

Wish I looked more carefully. Did even look for that. I do want to say the one light was mounted using the molded holes in the light, the other had one screw in the molded hole and one right through the light housing. When I saw it, I thought that maybe they stripped the other hole. Nope. Just the two holes made by the original install. There was another marker mounted the same way. Can’t figure out why they did it.

IMHO - just lazy & poor craftsmanship.

Rear marker lights

As Daryle's mentioned Montana put out a service bulletin about replacing the rear gaskets with silicone
My lights were full of water and I had to remove the lens and dry everything then reinstall using silicone
This eliminated the issue

We have a 2017, guess I need to open them up this summer and check all my lighting for issues. The "to do" list just never seems to get any shorter. hahahahaha
