You are right, the computers are a little high, we have a 2016 Ram 3500 and towing we get around 11mpg if I stay under 65 on flat ground.

IT"S NOT CALLED THE "LYE O METER" FOR NOTHING>. the only true way is to fill up the tank and take them miles and divide by gallons.. usually off by 3 mpg at least..

On my F150 2.7 the lie o meter is off by about 5%. Lifetime by the LOM is showing 23.2 that should be 21.5 to 22 MPG.

I think I am off about 3%. But the calculator is actually pretty close - you see my truck adds the miles driven and is also off about 3%. On a test strip on the highway there was a 10 mile stretch. I think my odometer read 10.2 or 3.

Crap now you got me wondering. I'm getting 10mpg and if its 3% off 7mpg? I'm going to have to do some checking. I would hope that my 2020 is more accurate...sometimes ignorance is bliss....

No it’s actually 9.7 MPG. 7 would be 30%.
9.7 is in the error range in other words closer than you can calculate on a short 1000 mile trip.
To find your real mileage you haft to do some math or use the web site Fuley over a long time and many fill ups.

I believe the Ford lie-o-meter does not account for the fuel used for DPF regeneration. It always says it used less fuel than the pump dispenses. And the hand calculated mileage is consequently less than what the lie-o-meter displays.

I guess I'll have to stop relying on tech and do it the old fashion way. And Carl like your signature says, there's more to life then fuel mileage!
