Hydraulic hose repair

Hello,

Would anyone have information on where I could find some hydraulic hose schematics? One of my hoses to my leveling jacks blew and I will need to replace it. I thought it may be helpful to know where they run?

The repair needed is to the left side jack near the axles (side). My unit is a 2012 3400rl model. Any information or advice would be appreciated.

Thank you

You won't find any schematics for any of the wiring, hydraulics or water lines on your Montana. The only schematics are in the factory IF they have them there at all. The easiest way is to take the hydraulic line off and take it to an automotive supply store or a farm store that make up hydraulic lines and have them make one for you. OR you could contact Lippert/LCI Customer Service and they may sell you the line. Plan on removing the whole belly cover to replace this line however.

I am lazier than Rondo.

I would remove both ends to the line to be replaced and tie wrap the new hose the end of the hose to be replaced and pull it through.

If not using a new replacement hose, tie a thin rope to one end and as you pull the hose out the rope will follow.

Repair the hose and use the rope to pull it back.

there is usually enough slack in the hoses to figure out the 2 ends of the hose. May take 2 people for this step.

Thanks Jeffba; I was actually considering this method but read somewhere that the hoses were zip tied throughout the belly of the unit at various places?
I still think it’s worthwhile to try before removing the floor liner. If I get hung up I’ll drop liner from there.

Thank you for the suggestion, much appreciated.

Unless you zip tied them, they will just be laying on top of the coroplast, at least that’s how ours was when I dropped the front coroplast to repair the grey tank some years ago. Those are now zip tied up to the frame. You could have an issue at pulling at one end if that line is looped with others, because they aren’t cut to fit, just however long Lippert made them will be what’s in there. You should plan on new hose, because many hydraulic shops will not have fittings for that small hose. I had the hose failing with an aneurism quite a while back from the pump to the manifold, and the shop was unable to put a new fitting on it, so for $20, I had a complete hose with fittings on both ends and didn’t have to loop it several times around the propane crossover pipe like the original was.

I had a line replacement to do in Mexico at a beach campground after an on site welder burned through it while repairing a broken spring hanger. I used the rope trick and the line was not fastened by zip ties or clamps. I now have a bulldozer line supplying one jack. The old orange line was repaired, so I now have a spare. Most lines are partly accessible behind the removable wall in the front storage compartment. Good luck.

I just realized, because you can't get a hydraulic plumbing diagram from Keystone, the next best thing is the installation manual from Lippert, and a number of pages into it, there is a diagram of how the plumbing is connected, which might help figuring out which hose goes where.

His unit is a 2012. I didn't think they had factory installed level up on 2012. Wouldn't that have to be after market add on.

Ours is a 2012, and it has the factory level up along with the hydraulic slides. This was the first year they were installing the level up.

Our 2012 has the factory Level UP as it was one of the reasons we purchased it.

My 2012 3585SA also had it from factory. That's the only reason I went from the 2008 3400RL that we had and loved.

I ordered a replacement hydraulic line directly from Lippert when I needed to replace one of mine. It was less expensive than getting one made locally.

I had one of those hoses fail due to a rat chewing through it. I had it repaired at a local hydraulic shop but it failed again. I then went back to the shop and had an all new hose made up.Bottom line is that the hydraulic shops will all tell you that the hoses Montana uses are not the best. What I got to replace it was a 3000 psi hose withe stainless steel jacket. The new hose was a bit more expensive than the repair but surely not worth it. The new hose was about $150.00 out the door.the repair was about $75.00. Any commercial hydraulic shop can make you one. You only need to tell them how long you want.
