City water intake

Does the city water hookup on our fiver have a built in pressure regulator? Just wondering. I put my regulator on the campground spigot and we seemed to have very low water pressure in the camper. Lower than normal it seemed. I guess too low is better than too high though. We have a 3455SA. Rookie question... First fiver.

Thanks...

No, not unless the previous owner installed one. Check the pressure at the supply. I suspect it's the campground which has low pressure.

Had this happen to me once years ago. The COE campground used a backflow preventer that had a little plastic piece sticking out. In those days I used one of those cheap brass regulators. The screen in the mouth of the regulator pushed on the little plastic piece and restricted the water flow. Since then I've changed to a much better regulator and put a small hose on the faucet before you get to my regulator. No mater what you don't want to do without a regulator. It's rare, but there are campgrounds out there that have pressure high enough to damage your rig.

I have the adjustable regulator from CW. Is this a good regulator or is there something better to use?

Absolutely does not. I also learned the hard way to put a regulator at the CG supply spigot. Had two hoses burst in Phoenix at a so called 'resort'. One an expanding, the second a white one. Now I carry a heavy duty hose along with a surviving white one.

Agree, regulator is a must have.

Also check your own regulator. Occasionally they will fail and cause poor pressure inside.

I have the adjustable from cw and it has been a jewel. Works well still. Our winter cg outside port charlotte florida has water pressure normally at 75psi and have seen it at 85psi numerous times since they added new sites and new water supply input to whole park. John

Same here, I just purchased the adjustable one, I got tired of going to campgrounds with to little water pressure and not knowing it, because I would just use the cheep regulator. nothing like regulating already low pressure. now I will know what it is and adjust accordingly.

I also have a water pressure gauge that I put on the spigot to measure the water pressure before I connect to it. If the pressure is 50 psi or below I don't use the regulator.
