Solar ~ Inverter ~ Batteries

I have a 2022 Montana that is at the dealer for a replacement of a recliner and solar. Granted I know little about solar but knew mine was not working.

Standard 2000 watt inverter, one 200 watt panel, 2 LA batteries. I have zero plans on boondocking, too old for that. My use will be for cooling the residential fridge prior to a trip plus running a fan and the radio or tv while doing light maintenance. However, having been required to spend a night at a rest area or truck stop more use would be needed. Never the microwave and AC will not work, gas HW. No plan to change the new batteries and do not think another panel makes sense. My question is would it make sense to add 1 or 2 more batteries?

Hey John!

Congrats on the new rig!

We had a Res Fridge in our '15 and found that 2 LA batteries were not enough to keep our fridge going during a long day, much less through the night.

You may want to shoot for over 200 amp hours of usable battery power as a starting point.

The solar you have will extend battery life only a little. I dont think it will be near enough to keep up with a Res. Fridge.

Thanks, sounds like 2 more batteries are in my future!
