Drain the tanks completely. Add a cup of laundry bleach, about 5 gallons of water to each holding tank and go for a nice drive. Let the bleach water slosh around.

Return back to "home port" and drain the bleach water and flush with clean water to removed the bleach and not hurt the valves or anything.

First, if the tank is cracked, the bleach water will also seep through the cracks and sanitize any seepage, making it much more pleasant removing your underbelly materials for a repair.

Second, if there is no cracks or breaks anywhere, the bleach water will clean up anything that is causing the smells in the various tanks.

Third, if the air admittance valves are leaking or failing, then you'll get a bleach smell inside the camper and not foul sewer smells.

If you are hooked up to a full service campsite and your sewer hoses are hooked up to the campground sewer system.... and... you leave your dump valves open, you are experiencing sewer smells from the campground creeping back into the camper.

If you have your bathroom exhaust vent running and you flush the toilet, the exhaust vent will, can, and does pull fumes from the toilet black tank every time you push the toilet peddle.
