We bought two Montanas from LaDonna/Tacoma RV. The first a 2002 2955RL that gave very good service until we needed some more room. That turned out to be a 2005 3400RL. We were the must see last winter during our 6 months in south Texas. It's fully loaded and performs great. Added sunshades over the large dining room and computer desk to fight daily moning/afternoonsun. We face south when parked. The wind frequently reaches 35mph with 15-22nornal. Not a problem for the awning in the vertical position when properly anchored. Need to start preparing for Sept departure. Behind our 2006 6.0 CC Diesel with 57 gal Transfer Flow under body fuel tank towing throuh the mountains from Olympia,Wa to anywhere is a breeze.
The sale and service at Tacoma RV can not be beat from what we've seen.

Contrary to what the dealer's say, they'll kill you on the trade. I sold my TT on eBay and got 50% more than the dealer was going to give me.

Sounds like they are using the old...'got to do it now' line.

I believe one think you have accomplished is to determine the ACTUAL cost of the new Monty. Now you gotta get em to give you a fair trade price for your unit. Keep up the stiffer lip.

I got a good one, had a dealer call me from about 300 mi from where I live that I had requested a quote from on the internet. the sales person asked all about what option I wanted and what my trade was like, then asked where do I need to be to earn your business? I said $9-$10,000 the phone was quiet then said we can do that, I asked how much the rv was, well its the policy of the lot to get a deposit prior to the order I said OK how much is the rv again we can get the price you want just give me your credit card # and we will order, again I asked how much, not till we lock in the order..I told them I will not give the # till I find out how much, they said they do this to keep me from shopping with their offer. I told them that is business. they said a lot go's into getting the price you want and we need to have it locked in first, I told them I didnt think that was a way to do it and I will keep shopping. Any of you have this ? is it normal ?

Sounds like a crook to me.

We told our dealer exactly what we wanted...model # and options. We knew the msrp, he said he'd call later with the price. The owner called that afternoon, good price, I said to order it. Two days later the owner again called and rather sheepishly asked..."you wouldn't mind giving us $1,000 earnest money would you...fully refundable if you don't like the rig or change your mind?"

Sent 'em a check.

As someone who is involved at Foleys on a day to day basis(hint, hint!)I can say that I am sorry for your experience. I do firmly believe you caught that sales person on the wrong day. We all know that a factory order can be done to your liking with what you want, and how you want! To get a firm bottom line price it just takes a little paper work time on the dealers side. A 3650 in Foleys area is loaded most of the time. Is it possible you wanted one on the lot without these options? In other words is it possible the sales person felt like you were not fully decided on that model? I am a customer as well and I expect a FAIR deal as well! But if I am serious I make sure the sales person is aware I am not just wasting their time! As far as the PDI charge... a complete walk through should take 2-4 hours. That dictates someone has to be paid for their time and effort. I have seen this charge waved before, but not at the begining of a purchase. Oh, and I think if ANYONE had a written price from another dealer, say in Tacoma, that Foleys would meet or beat it! That is the kind of dealership they are! Give them another chance to prove it is my opinion!!

Don't care about the trade in ..On the price of 58,640 you should not be paying more than @ 42k to 44k for that camper..That is @ 25 to 30% off MSVRP.. talk trade in value from there. You may have to take near wholesale for the trade in. I would do my best to sell it yourself. Don't know what options you have on the trade but the NADA low on that camper is 26,890 so they are playing the numbers game

DBLAKE, I believe that everyone who buys a Montana, pays for a PDI... they just don't list a seperate charge for this. This will cause problems if a seperate charge shows up. Kinda like the incredible good time people have when they get a cell phone on a $69.99/mo plan, then never see a bill under $130/mo, no matter what they do to conserve - due to "add-on" charges that tend to infuriate customers. If RV dealerships resort to that type of pricing policy, instead of absorbing it in the total price, they will quickly create a bitter taste in the mouth of us internet forum users (MOC is only one).

I'll pay for it, but I better not see it. Or worse yet... I better not run into a saleman trying to defend it... No offense intended toward you. This is just my personal opinion (JMHO). There may be some here who dispute this.

*On Edit~ I think that a 4-6 hr PDI would be a little more in line for a PDI. 2 hrs seems awful quick.

Bob, the 2007 won't go down with the new book unless it is a used unit. The new ones will use the new price list pricing until the next model year is available.

See another Montana or Mountaineer on the road? Flash lights twice, it might be one of us!

What options did you get for 64,320..that seems high for the 3400??? and if they paid 30K for the camper that seems a little low..There is something I do not understand about his figures???

They are crazy they are thinking you have no idea what is going on. I have seen 3400's from 42K to 45K. Double check the frig upgrade the whole new Dometic from camping world is about 1500.00 so what happened to the frig in the original unit as from factory. That same 8 cubic foot frig is 1300.00 from CW so that is about 300.00 adder not 1,500.00. Steve Regile already been through this it's a rip off. Keep looking you will get a deal from someone that is not trying to rip you off.

Bob & Lee...your prices agree exactly with my factory 2007 price list. Tell him he needs to come off the msrp a bunch, other dealers are selling new 2007 3400s for over 25% off msrp. If you are willing to travel to eastern OK, I'll give you my dealer's name.

Bob & Lee, our 2007 3400 (July 17 mfr date) was on the low end of what Rodney (Broome101) listed. And we had EVERY option you listed except the 10 cu ft fridge. I know CO is a little more freight than OH where we bought but this dealer is way off...

I have seen 3400RL's having a list price as high as $69,860 on the west coast. Different dealers can charge different prices according to their demand. You may need to shop around your area to get better prices.
