Keeping main door open??
We are camping in a rather windy area and are having trouble keeping the main door to our rig open when we want to catch the breezes. We have a 2020 Montana High Country 373RD. Has anyone found a magnet strong enough to hold it open or have you had to install some sort of latch to keep it open? Thanks in advance for any suggestions! Happy New Year to everyone!

I use a long bungee cord, one end on the inside handle and put the other end in one of the bolt holes one the center Jack. Works for me and I don’t have to drill holes to install a door holder

Debbie-- I don't know if you have the magnets on the basement/pass-through door on the curbside/passenger side of your HC but I've taken the struts off the door for the storage door there and added magnets to the outside of the door and where it matches up on the side of the unit. I've also placed magnets on the entry door and corresponding side of the unit where it matches with the magnet on the door. I ordered the magnets from my local dealer and they are the same magnets Keystone uses on their Montana's. The wind has no effect on either of the doors when they are open.

Use string. Tie it to a screw in the basement. Loop it over the door handle. You can close the basement door on it no problem. Leave it hanging in the basement for next time.

I live in a canyon and normally get 30-40+mph winds. I got one of these and so far it's worked great and didn't have to install anything. It fits perfectly next to the stove and handle next to the door as well when not in use.

That’s what I have been looking for but didn’t know where to get magnets that strong. We will check with the dealer.

We have a door holder similar to post 3. They are one hand easy to use once you have a little practice and will hold in any wind that don’t blow your camper over.

That looks like the 6 inch one. Do you think the 3 1/2 inch would work? Seems like it would hold it tighter.

I use a suction cup that you can get at Canadian Tire/Princess Auto/Rural King/Harbour Freight that is used for auto body repair. Just use a short bungee cord and stick the cup to the side of the rv and flip the handle to hold it in place, wrap the bungee through and hook to the door handle and no more problem. Easy on easy off... no holes no much no fuss. Costs about 5 bucks for the suction cup.

I had the same thing put on that Butch and Kathy did. Works great and no longer have the door problem. Also had the gas props installed on my cargo doors. Only need one of those to come down on you to know that's a problem.
