I don't even count yet!

But I hope to.
My husband and I are running away from our "stick house" I think I heard it called in here. Selling out and going FT. both 40, and we found a beautiful 3295RK yesterday at a dealer. It is a consigned 2004 unit, in very good shape and has most of the bells and whistles.. including a kenmore stack in the appropriate space. Can someone give me some advice on whether $44K is too much for this unit? If you need more details, I can give at least a partial on the upgrades, they seem to be taken from all over the options list.
We don't have the truck or the 5'r yet, but we are excited to go. Any other Full time Workampers out there, I would like to know your experiences too. That is our plan.. Hubby is currently a cop, and I am (believe it or don't) a regional Park supervisor for Ks State parks... Any and all help will be much appreciated, we are excited, but sadly green... But at least I think we are choosing the right unit to pull!!!

Melly,
First of all welcome to the MOC forum!! We love our 3295RK so of course we think you have chosen a great unit. Wish we had been able to full time at your age. LOL However we are in the process of retiring and have sold our home. We are looking forward to spending more time in our Montana. Hope to meet up with you somewhere down the road.

The price is about right, we just bought a 2005 3295rk in June. The stacking washer & dryer is a plus. If you don't have your truck rigged for a 5th wheel, I would negotiate that in the price of the RV. Also be sure that a waranty goes with the unit, since it will be considered used. If the dealer offers an extended warant, I would consider that. There have been many posts regarding axle problems in the order models and also problems with the bedroom slideout. Don't get the wrong idea, we search & researched many brands before deciding on the Montana brand.

RangerMelB,

Welcome to the forum, welcome to the world of RVing, we are all envious of your decision to go fulltiming.

Personally even if this unit is loaded the price seems a bit high to me, but, that could depend on your area of the country.

This is a used unit, yes?? I believe that the Man. Sug. Ret. on that unit when we purchased same last year, same model, same year, no washer/dryer but prepped, was around $47,000.

OK, guys, isn't there a blue book online site for prices of used units?? Someone in the know jump in here and lets get these kids ON THE ROAD!

Cheers,

Carol

Gardener huh? My Brother in Law Bill Fish is from Gardener! Appreciate your quick replies. The dealer is Adventure down in Wichita, and the salesman did say something about rigging the hitch in a truck for us.. (we don't have the truck yet either... and are trying to decide.. 3/4..? 1 T? Dually?) The only thing I know for sure is that it will be a diesel Dodge Quad Cab.
Joyce, we will still be working... not just at the same place for the next 20 years. Biggest thing is the health (and distance) of our parents.. Need to be able to help.. Can't do that for EITHER set tied here in North West Kansas.

www.nadaguides.com has an RV section. I haven't checked to see if the 2004 Montana models are in there yet.

Congratulations on the purchase and the FT decision, Melly. We are also FT in a 3295RK and really like this model a lot. Good luck, hope all goes well for you. Keep an eye open for all of us and don't forget to blink headlights twice when you see another Montana on the road.

avg retail is 45,240 for this unit with what it's got, (and that is based on it being a 2003, since they don't go to 2004 yet. hoo hoo! I think we may have found a buy... Still gonna make first offer at LESS... Shameless bargainer that I am...

Oh, I forgot be sure to buy a diesel. You will get greater pulling power from a dead stop and better fuel mileage. If you are from Kansas, post stated being with the Ks Parks System, I might suggest a single axle as opposed to the dually. I researched and found that the dually don't track well in snow, of course being full time, you will probably become a "snowbird" and won't need to worry about the traction. We have a 2001 GMC 2500HD Crewcab with a longbed, Duramax and Allison Tranny. If you don't have your truck yet, I would definitely reccommend the longbed; doesn't fit in the garage very well
but that is a minor drawback.

The house we are trying to sell was built in 1914... anything but a passenger car won't fit through the garage door... height about 6'
we will eventually go for the snow.. read a really interesting article about working at a ski lodge that really sounds fun to this flatlander. but for now, we are California Bound... (hope to find something to do about an hour from anaheim where Kevin's folks are).. They are alone out there now, and we need to be near. Definately going for a diesel... Especially as we saw it for 179 at one station on 135 north of Wichita! (Mostly we have been seeing it for around the same price as regular unleaded... 1.85 - 89)... Everything we have read convinces us that the life and mileage is much improved with diesel.

Aww Tanks!
Yep, definately been noticing the nice people. Have been reading and looking at pictures in the Reigle's "Postcards from the edge" and trying to figure out why the poeple in the photos of the kids at home (shameless Gramma pics in 2003) look so familiar... reading about axles... etc etc. I should go to bed, but maybe I'm hoping someone will call at 11:30 Pm and make an offer on the house so we can GET GOING!

RangerMelB, Welcome to our forum. After checking with the NADA price guide for 2003 3295RK. Low price is 38K and avg price is 45K. I would offer 39K. But that is what I would try. Be sure to get the warranty. Keep us posted. Happyrving....

That is what I intend to offer, and that is only base price... it would be classed in excellent shape I think, I could find nothing wrong anywhere. looked Brand new to me, but there was still a tag on the back, so it is pre-owned. with all the goodies on it.. (it only doesn't have a satellite) the "book" on it is between 55 and 66... Sell house sell!!!

We purchased our 3295RK in January 2004. It is a new unit manufactured in Oct. 2003. We do not have the washer/dryer or satellite system.....about everything else though. Sticker price was $49K plus. The final deal came in at $38600 including hitch. It took a lot of finagling. Their original "lowest" price was $43K. Hang tough..these things have lots of markup!
