FWIW.

I fill a 30lb for about 10$ normally and even when traveling I have never had to pay more than 20$ most TSC offer propane at about 1.95 to 2.79 a 30lb is like 7.5 gallons which is like 21$. Right now gas is cheap but I have found more issues with maintenance on gas gens do to ethanol and if you get ethanol free gas propane ends up being cheaper. Plus I hate to carry gas cans. So much easier to carry a propane tank that runs all the appliances in the RV.

Honda's are also made in Japan, France, Thailand, and India. What is more important than where they are assembled is the specs to which they are designed.

Correct they are. Interestingly though having worked for a large Honda gen dealer the vast majority that we saw were built in China or at least tagged that way. Since we also serviced the units we took apart a predator 3500 and the build quality was on par with the Honda. Consumer reports only knocks the predators due the the standard 90 harbor freight warranty.
As for personal experience I got a free non functional Honda eu3000 that has 4 hours on it and a mouse had eaten the wiring harness. Fixed it up and sold it for near new cost. Wiring harness was not cheap but still. All in all I could buy 3 predators for the cost of 1 new Honda. Personal preference but still. Also the Honda carb worked on the predator so I would be surprised if it was not in some way a reversed engineered gen set.

No doubt Honda's are pricey. I've been abusing mine in many ways for 10 years. If I can ever kill it off I would have to give the 2200 model serious consideration.
