RVLOCK Keyless Baggage Locks

I am considering purchase of the RVLOCK Keyless Baggage Handles for installation on my 2014 Montana 3735MK.

Has anyone installed these locks on their Baggage doors?

My concern is do these fit on the Montana Baggage Doors? Any issues?

I appreciate any feedback.

Bill

Also make sure you check door thickness.

I ordered the baggage locks for my 3820 Montana last year and had to send them back. I called RV Locks about other options and they do not have this type lock unique to keystone doors. Problem I encountered was the gap space of 1.5 inch between latch plate and flat area of lock plate (door: 3/4 thick) and space for the latch to clear a metal bar on the backside of the wall. They look like pins or nail size brackets attached to interior side for the latch to slide over. I wanted to coordinate all doors to one key and to disassemble the current baggage latches required pin removals of the lock. To much work. I lost about 20% of the purchase to shipping and some other fees.

Contact rvlocksandmore.com. I replaced my door handle to electronic (with key backup), and all baggage lock tumblers to one key code that I chose. I even replaced the "751" locks to the same code. They have great customer service and better quality products than their competitors , in my opinion. I didn't replace the complete handle set, just the lock tumblers.

We have tried Industrial Lock and Hardware and replaced the 751's in our 3820FK, same key gives us a safer feeling with the underbelly stuff. I thought about putting a lock on the propane doors, do you think this would be a safety issue???

I wouldn't lock the propane doors, as it could be a safety issue in case of fire or gas leak. Also some places, I believe tunnels and long bridges etc, they have to be accessible in case of emergency.

I have locks on my propane doors. When the propane is off the doors are locked, when I have propane flowing the doors are unlocked. if im in a sketchy area, it does happen some times LOL. I will disconnect the line from the bottles and lock the door. always trying to cover my 6

The former firefighter in me, would just shake his head and open them with an axe.

The tanks have holes in the straps for locks.

Owner is not always present

My understanding is that it's OK to put a lock on the strap holding the Propane tanks in, but not on the doors.

Having many friends in the firefighting line, I take their advice to heart on things like this. Thats their perspective also...on the tanks yes, NOT the doors.

I don't care what kind of lock you have on any compartment door. With a screw driver, anyone can get in, in one second with a simple pry. Locks are just to keep honest people honest....

I put ring alarm contact sensors on all doors including propane. However when my rig is stored it is next to the house so I have WiFi notification along with the ring alarm siren, and if not stored I am usually in it. Secure and less expensive than replacing the locks.

You could put small locks on the straps that secure the bottles.

I replaced all the locks on the baggage doors, utility doors and propane doors with the Industrial lock tubular cam lock. They are all keyed alike and easy to install and use. I hadn't thought about the propane locks not being safe, but was concerned that someone could steel the tanks. Will have to review safety issues on those and decide what to do. The tubular locks work great.

I do not have locks on the propane doors themselves, however I did trough bolt a chain to the back wall of the compartment on each side using carriage bolts so I can chain the tanks to the wall if necessary. To this point I have not felt the need to use them.

I’m just going to put this out there.
If I wanted your tanks or your batteries for that matter, that little lock would not stop me.
I would rip the doors off if I need them. How much will that cost to repair?
Just something to think about.
Btw, two small locks on the tank straps would be a slow them down just as much.
Locks only keep the honest people out, that’s the facts.

Exactly what I stated in post #12. If I want in, I'm getting in.
However the slam latch doors are much more secure.

I agree that anybody can defeat any lock i have seen for an RV. It does keep honest people honest and would at least make it more difficult for someone to steal whatever they want. Good point on the door replacement costs more than the propane tank.
