threads showing on inserted rod

how far does the anode rod screw in?
my mind is mush and i cant recall from when i pulled it just a few short months ago.
does it go in full thread to the head of the rod or, as my memory serves me, do a few threads still show just as long as it is tight?
that is where it is now, tight but still a few threads showing.
preppin for gulf shores in a short month or so.....

If it's not cross threaded, don't over think it. Just screw it in until it's tight and not leaking.

They are tapered pipe threads. A new anode rod may or may not be the exact same size. When you make threads there is a tolerance usually .003 to .004 so one might screw in a little more or less. All of this is to say screw it in until tight and don’t worry about it.

Tape it good. Tighten it up good.
It does stick out a bit. No worries.

Mine always looked like Daryles picture. And since they are pipe threads, snug is good. Don’t over tighten.
