Hot Water Pressure

We suddenly lost about 50% of our water pressure on the hot water side. i emptied the water heater flushed some water through and put in a new anode. Pressure came back to about 75%. Any suggestions on what i can do to improve the situation. No pressure drop on the cold water side. If i by pass the hot water heater, pressure is fine.

Possibly the check valve is failing. There will be no hot water once it does. It is fairly easy to replace. Do a Search on "hot water check valve" and you should find lots of information.
You will need a wrench with a long handle for leverage. The valve is tight!

Carl, as always you come up with an answer and help. I'm pretty sure that is the problem. Looks easy to replace if you can get to it. Will pick up the part and put it in. Sure appreciate the advice and assistance.
Happy travels.

Carl, That was the problem. Part was $10.00 so not major. You were right about it being tight. If there was easy access to the valve it would have been a 10-15 minute job. Took me about 45 minutes, but finally got it done.
Thanks for the advice.

If you were on the road and didn’t have access to a hardware store, you could have removed it and knocked out the internals then put it back in. The check valve is only there for winterizing so you don’t fill up your water heater with pink stuff. If there is no need for you to winterize , just leave it without the internals for good or till you can pick up a new check lbs
