I am pretty sure the valve is still there in the plumbing line. I think what you are referring to is the handle and/or the rod which actuate the valve. They stick out along the frame and are easy to see. The valve, not so much.
There are numerous posts on this problem. You can buy a replacement handle and rod at the RV dealer, CW, or Amazon. The rod is a 1/4" x 20 thread piece. The trick is trying to reconnect it. The easiest way is to cut a flap in the coroplast near the valve. This allows you see enough to align the rod with the valve.
