Bedroom slideout
Hi, I am about to go on a trip and I put the bedroom slide out to load up. It won’t come in now. Motor is working and it moves an inch or so and then shuts off. Thoughts??? I have a 2022 3231ck.

Slideout movement
Ours did something similar after having the slideout frame flex fixed. It turned out screws in the Schwintek rails had backed out thus jamming the slide when it moved. I would also check your controller to see if it is giving you a error.

If I understand it if you do not have controller errors then the motors and cables should be fine. It sounds like something is jamming it maybe a screw or something under the rail such as a shoe. You try putting the controller in override mode

The dreaded Schwintek failure. Lots of info on the subject here.

Shaw918,
Hope you were able to figure it out! Our Schwintek bedroom slide broke just before thanksgiving. The rail system actually was installed twisted. Took until about three weeks ago to get the parts in to fix it. The service guy said it’s been an issue with Schwintek and they have replaced about 1000 motors/systems.
Now the two front slides are both Schwintek and they now have to be replaced. One the motor has a screw sticking out of it so it is actually screwing itself to the RV. The other, the one motor is just not turning. The tech tried to show us his way of working it in/out but we said screw it and just reset the motor when we run it. We are still waiting for the parts to come in to replace them. The tech said he has never had to repair three Schwinteks on one rig. We have a 2023 337FL.

Thanks for the reply. It turned out to be the right motor wire was corroded. Fixed and back on the road. Apparently it is not an uncommon problem

Hello everyone.
I have a 2017 Montana 3000. My frame flex broke and it is being fixed. My bedroom slide-out is for a king size RV mattress and there is storage under the bed. I would like to find out if any knows how much weight the slide-out can handle. I want to put a new mattress on the bed, but it weighs 80#, and how much weight can I carry under the bed.
I would appreciate you knowledge or experience on this issue.
Thank you.

I'd be careful putting much weight on or under the bed. That is what causes many schwintek problems. I also read a thread where someone's bed frame completely tore apart under the weight when trying to open the slide.

When we bought the RV in Jan. 2018, we had the dealer remove our Sams Club foam mattress and topper from our previous RV (trade in) and put it on the bed slide. I had put the thing in our old RV by myself so I knew it was very heavy the prospect of getting it upstairs was daunting. It is a queen size but still heavy for one old man to manuver. We keep extra chairs, blankets, ceramic heater, and sheets under the bed. We have not had any issues with our slide mechanism or the bed frame/wood box…so far! I keep the Schwintek lubricated and synced. I have never seen, nor read of a weight limit for a Schwintek bedroom slide (mattress + contents in storage below) but, as Robert stated - MANY folks here have had to rebuild the whole wood bed box due to shoddy construction from factory.
My rig was constructed November 2017…it must have been a good couple of weeks in Goshen!

I've never seen an actual weight limit for the bed slide out. Those little servos actually create a great deal of torque.
I did a similar upgrade a few years ago; I put in a California king size Tempur-pedic.A California king is same width (72") as an RV king, and 4" longer. The bed platform on mine was made of 1/2" plywood and poorly supported. I ripped out the existing platform, added a couple of supports, built a new platform out of 3/4" plywood, installed some heavy duty gate hinges, and replaced the gas struts with ones with more force. I know the new mattress weighs 90#, and I'm estimating the additional lumber weighs another 25-30#. If you feel that your platform is adequate, you absolutely need to add heavier hinges and struts.
We don't use the under bed storage for much, the 2 additional dining chairs that fold, and an additional blanket or two. Since the new mattress is longer, I have to lift the platform and lock the gas struts before retracting the slide for travel to allow vertical clearance to the dresser on the opposite wall.
I was concerned about the additional weight too. The only test I could think of at the time was time the slide in and out with a stopwatch, and do the same after new mattress was installed. They were exactly the same. After the fact, I could have put an ammeter on the Schwintek circuit and compared the before and after. I have had no issues with the additional weight.
You might want to look at the locks for the gas struts, you certainly don't want to have the platform collapse on you while you're retrieving something stored underneath. I used these:
https://www.amazon.com/Support-Stopp...s%2C227&sr=8-3
The strut rods are hardened, and these won't scar the rod. A prop rod like a car hood prop rod or a piece of 2X4 lumber would work too.
I bought the mattress with delivery included. I made sure they understood it went in an RV. I wish I had taken a video of those 2 guys installing that mattress, it was absolutely poetry in motion.

We found out the bed box is cantilevered in our unit and the box came loose from the wall from overloading it. When fixing the wall connection, I added rollers to the end of the box using the same rollers that are mounted to the floor. Other have used casters, created sliders using rug material on blocks to support the end.
Picture show how the rollers sit when the slide is fully extended. Bought the rollers from Amazon.

This is what we added, we bought them on RecPro website. The original wheels were angled and did not roll right when the slide is coming in.
