Any mold on Sleep Number or Bear mattress?

Is mold really a problem with Sleep Number or Bear air mattresses?

One complaint I found researching the Sleep Number mattress is that some folks found mold on their Sleep Number mattress. It is claimed to happen because the air mattress doesn't breathe and allows body perperation to keep the mattress damp. This supposedly damp area is where the mold forms. Has anyone had such a problem?

Thanks, Jerry

We have the sleep number and have never noticed any mold on it. We just love it.

We have had a Sleep Number bed in our house for three years and have not had any problems with it. It does have the pillow top mattress that adds a couple of inches of fabric that that can absorber perspiration. We really like it and would not go back to regular mattress, much better for the back.

There is a built in moisture barrier on the bear bed. I am sure the sleep number has the same.

No mold on our sleep number and have used same for yhears!!!
Rich is right, there is a moisture barrier, located in the cover that zips over the actual air chambers and foam liner.

This is good news. Another internet review case of those few with a problem make it known and those without problems don't even bother to read the topic.

These mattresses appeal to us because of the separate firmness control. It has been a 34 year debate on mattress firmness for us. Now we just have to decide whether to keep the king size or reduce to a queen and cut off some plywood platform since the king leaves little room to make up the bed in our 2955. We also have to consider Nikki the wonder dog who likes to stretch out under the covers and poke her claws into the legs of whoever is crowding her - she likes her space. Hopefully she can't poke into the air mattress.

Thanks, Jerry

David do you have the queen bed or king? I have the king and i am looking at the bear bed but was wondering if the way the corners are cut off on the oem mattress to allow for the slide to come in if that has been a problem for you. Are did you have it custom made?

We have the Queen, they make an RV size. Fit our requirements perfectly. Good Luck.

JJPARKER,

We have a queen Select Comfort air bed in our Montana. Yes, it has squashed the problem of firm vs. soft mattress. The added benefit to the queen size was that after cutting the plywood (was King size) we got some extra room to get to the closet...We used a regular size queen (not RV) and it fits just fine. We have had it apart several times to figure out the best way to route the airlines and cords, and have found no mold, but we also have the pillow topper which has a moisture barrier.
