Putty Tape? Not on Montana's??

This is on our '06 3000RK. Had to go on the roof this weekend - as we discovered that a hailstorm had put holes in all 3 of our vent covers. After doing that replacement - was having a look at all the stuff on the roof and checking for places for potential leaks. Well, at the rear corner, found a little hole in the sealant at the junction of the roof and rear cap... traced it down to the trim strip along the side of the roof and the junction of the cap/trim strip/gutter. Cleaned all the old sealant off, cleaned and did a thorough inspection. I found that there was no putty tape behind the trim, as I was used to seeing in other trailers (howbeit not a 5th, and not a Montana). So...I am curious, as it seems that there was nada behind that trim strip that holds the roof membrane down and starts the side of the unit. There is some type of sealant (and subsequent silicone added) at the top and bottom of the strip...but nothing behind it.

Looking for some guidance here. Have been used to 'bedding' (a boating term) everything that has screws in it that goes into the walls/corners/etc. with that grey putty tape.

Please advise
Ric

Cover ALL seams and around ANY roof penetration's with Eturabond tape. It will never have a chance to leak again.

For the edges like that, I use dicore lap sealant and one tears and holes eternabond tape.
