2008 Montana's -- Now Power Awnings included?
Just ordered a 2008 Montana 3400RL. We looked at that compared against the Big Sky 340RLQ. The only thing we felt that was a nice upgrade was the Power Awning. When I ordered the Montana, I asked if Keystone could put the big sky's power awning on. My dealer called Keystone today and said that the Montanas now come with a power awning. I really think they're wrong. I'll get it in writing. But in the meantime, can someone who just got an 08 verify that they did or didn't get a power awning?

We just picked ours up 5/30 and ours didn't come with a power awning and wasn't mentioned as an option when ordering. Like the backup lights and they have built in drain spouts, nice improvements over our '03.
Save travels.

They may have meant that it was now a option on the 3400 which would not be a good idea from the selling point of view because if you can order all the Big Sky options on a 3400 why buy a Big Sky???

We recently picked up our 2008 3400RL, and there are is no power awning. None was listed as an option when we ordered either.

It takes a while to get them into production -
There was no such thing as an LCD TV when we ordered our 2007, but it showed up with one and is now an option.
So far we love our power awning which we installed after delivery, but I think there may be a lot of folks that won't like it. I would hope Keystone makes it an option rather than standard.

Brad,
If you "love"your power awning, why do you think that "a lot of folks" won't like it?

Grant - it's all a matter of lifestyle -
Power awning - - Quick and easy to use
- Absorbs mild wind and gusts
- Tend to use it more often due to ease of use
- Cannot reasonably be tied down securely to withstand weather
- Will not facilitate screen rooms, other add ons
Standard Awning - - Complicated to get set up and may require a ladder (at least on our 3400)
- Handles mild winds but requires de-flappers
- Tend to not bother to set it up for just a few hours
- Can be securely tied down with some confidence it will be OK for long term
- Will facilitate all types of screen rooms, add a rooms, other add-ons
We are weekenders or vacationers, and are usually in areas that can have unforgiving winds. These are roof rippin winds that will tear up even slide awnings. With the power awning I know I can just put it away whenever we aren't using it or are leaving and not worry about it. Many times we scrambled to try and get our previous standard awning put away before the wind hit, and often didn't make it and it took 4 people to get it finally done. Not everyone lives in that type of climate and may prefer the advantages of the standard awning.
JMHO - Brad

Thanks to everyone for their input. For what it's worth, I finally called Keystone today, and they confirmed that it's now part of a package and is an option on 2008 Montana's. Big brotherly enough, he was so good that he had my order right on a screen in front of him showing that. By the way, the only other thing he told me that changes from 07 to 08 are a slight graphics change on the side.
