Easy enough to wire in a kill switch in a secret (and not obvious) spot to prevent theft. Clubs are not a deterrent to a serious car thief... they can be disabled in just seconds. Hunting around for a kill switch takes too long and even top car thieves will abandon the attempt if they can't find it in the first few seconds.

Not going to be easy to drive off with jacks down.

Just had our 2019 Montana 3121 RL stolen from our property last night. They hot wired our gated driveway gate and hooked it up and took it while we slept. Not even one our 3 dogs barked. They new what they wanted and how to get it.

Rvdrifters, that has to be the most dramatic first post ever. At least it happened at the end of camping season. Best of luck and welcome to the forum.

Bruce,

Welcome to the forum!

Sounds like some of your Canadian crooks have some skills.

We have a Tracki. https://tracki.com/
But I think now I'm going to add a kill switch to disable the hydraulic system.

While camping at Fort Wilderness, we got back to the RV one night and the door flew open and our dog jumped out, shrugged it off as one of the kids didn't close the door all the way. Next evening we pull into KOA and I notice the pry marks on the door. Put 2 & 2 together, dog scared off thief. Probably after our F-450 keys. Our model has the fold in the RV stairs, they go in now whenever we leave, mainly to keep the dogs in the rig if it ever happens again. Also installed camera inside, motion lights and a camera outside. they connect via wifi and have viewing app for phone.

on Edit, we also purchased a king pin lock

So sorry to hear this. Hopefully your insurance will fully cover you. They were very determined to get yours. Pretty gutsy to do that on someone's residential property too. Ours friend's practically new triple axle Fusion toy hauler was stolen from the dealership lot, which was there for some maintenance. They never found it. Video showed a dually making off with it.

Montana stolen

I've never had on stolen and hope I never will. Nothing much lower than a thief! They should really try working for a living instead of stealing something from someone that has worked for it! Sorry for your loss and hope they catch them shortly!!!!

The problem is they don`t think they`re low life's, they think you owe them something ( your stuff ) because they didn`t have the same opportunities like you did. Like I always told my kids, wait for no one, expect nothing from anyone, create your own opportunities, money will follow.

About half way thru this camping season, we left our rig at the state park, WITH the lock on the kingpin. Probably wouldn't stop someone determined, BUT fortunately for us, we were right next to the camp host, and he kept an eye on it for us. With him being that close, I think it would have been hard to steal in the middle of the night. Too much noise and light.

That week was probably the most that I have worried about it, though. Typically, we park our truck in front, if we can, so you have to steal the truck AND the RV.

He greeted us when we got back, and told us all was well.

It's good to have camp hosts that are willing to go the extra mile!

Nothing will stop a determined crook. Based on the survey still appears Montana thefts are not very common.

Just got back from the "secure" storage facility. My Montana was broken into with in the last 2 weeks. they essentially remove the hydraulic level up system including the pump reservoir. stole the hardwired surgeguard EMS, took the battery disconnect out. removed the 50amp outlet at the back of the trailer. broke the back window. took the spare tire. took the morryde steps. took the samsung TV. cut the entire progressive dynamics distribution center out of the bathroom, took all the panels to open & close the slides. stole 50amp power cord and everything in the basement. stole the vision works side and backup cameras. stole the TST tire monitoring from the tires. cut several openings under the trailer to remove hydraulic pumps. stole every light fixtrue inside the trailer and every LED light bulb. Not able to open the slides to see what else as taken. Security camera was only 15 feet away. Storage facility says nothing on the camera. Police dusted for prints and said they used gloves. they must have been at the trailer for more than an hour to remove that much stuff. trailer maybe ruined. May have been better if they just stole the trailer .......... so sad!

JoeUSNRET, that's terrible. Those guys know what they are after, not just random thieves. They took items of value that only rv people would know about. The parts are likely going up for sale on ebay imo.
