Looking for a way to make fifth wheel accessible for my wife. I have a 3402RL Montana. 4 steps. I need railings that shed can reach from the ground and bottom step. I tried the camping world Telescoping Rail Mate but there was little clearances next to the steps and interference with the existing door and rail

Stromberg Carlson has some rail options, not sure if they have one that works for you. On Line catalog. Rail Mate looks like a good possibility.

If you stay in one place for lengths of time you might also want to consider a portable porch. My wife and i both have bad knees and so we set up the porch whenever we work camp. We have one of these:

Don't want to hijack the original thread, but DQDick, that is one fine looking deck/steps! The one I use when we are stationary is designed similar except of course it is all treated wood and composite decking. I was going to duplicate another 4'x4' one with the 5 steps when we landed in Florida for the winter, but then I was going to have to find someplace to store it down there when I leave.

I checked the video and it looked like it only took about 45 minutes to put it together, it that about right? Also, how is the finish on your standing up, any rust or signs of wear?

Tiny bit of rust on the feet. At least as easy as they made it look, but I wear gloves because those plastic ends on the bolts can do a number on your hands.

Except for them being a little pricey initially, they sure look like they would be perfect for a safer entry or someone just wanting an extra porch.

Going to do some calculations, want to make sure everything will fit in my truck bed tool box when broke down, then we will be ordering.

Been trying to get on Sun Rise Deck site for a few days now. It is either a broken link or they have taken their site down. Hope they are not out of business. I have the phone number so maybe I will call them Monday.

Sunrise Decks web site is still down, or at least I can't get it to come up. Their phone number still appears to be a good one because a recording comes on from "Mike at Sunrise Decks".

Guess I will give them until Monday before reaching out by phone.

I just got on by typing Sunrise Deck in Google and clicking on the website.

The only Sunrise Deck site I can get on is some company that does residential applications, which I don't think is the same company. When DQdick first posted I could pull up the Sunrise Deck company site that does RV portable decks/steps, but haven't been able to get it to come up since. Their add with a phone/address will come up on Google search but their site must have been taken down. Worries me dealing with a company that either drops their internet site or allows it to go down for this long.

I found another company that produces about the exact same product. Went back and forth with them for some additional detail and will probably place an order tomorrow.

At least when I ordered a couple of years ago it was a part time project for them. Took about a month to get the deck because they built them on weekends or in their spare time. I got plenty of spare parts in case they did go under, but other than bolts and a couple of plastic railing couplers everything else is solid and should I run over a part or something i could have another made at any welding shop so I wasn't concerned.

Dick, that is where I am coming from with ordering from this other company. It looks like almost the same style/type of set up as you got so things could be repaired almost anywhere.

John, the company makes a "step only" assembly with railings that appears pretty steady and the price is reasonable also.

Saw these the other day when browsing their website. Looks like they make one for both truck campers and other RVs They make some excellent products and their service is top notch. They have been well known for many years in the Truck Camper community. This one looks kinda strange but like I said everything i've seen from them is really good quality. Wouldn't hesitate to call them with questions, they are good folks.

Not sure about the way the steps are made, but if it's sturdy then that looks like something that would do the job for you.

I looked over the aluminum ones. I want something that would be as light as possible to store/haul, but they just didn't look like they would hold up.

I order from: http://www.hofmannccr.com yesterday. Their systems are very similar to what Dick has. They also have a stair only option that looked very sturdy. I had a couple conversations with the guy and he emailed me a quote. Since it is built in Nevada and I am wanting it shipped to Florida, the shipping costs were a little over $300.00. If you were closer and/or just getting the stair model it would surely be a lot cheaper shipping.
