Inaugural Trip

Well after having used our 30' Keystone Outback for seven years and 75K miles, we took our new 2013 Montana High Country 343RL out for it's inaugural trip.

Sure, we spent a night in it coming back from Sacramento to San Diego county when we purchased it a couple of weeks ago, but that doesn't count since we didn't even unhitch nor use any of the appliances/facilities.

But we're now experienced campers after spending a week in Zion National Park in Utah. We stayed just across the river from the park in Springdale.

Wow! We loved it! What a difference between the two RV's! The room in Monte was phenomenal. The recliners facing the TV with the fireplace made it feel just like home. We even had a couple of dinner parties for six people inside that worked out just fine using the ample counter space as a buffet.

Sure, I had to get used to the additional length and height, but a 5th wheel tows so much better than a travel trailer! And best of all, even though Monte is a bunch bigger, my fuel economy was practically the same.

Here are some photos featuring our new rig along with our friends' Cougar which looks like Monte's brother: http://bit.ly/17jvFS6

Now that you've made that inaugural trip you can come on out and join us at the MOC Central Plains Regional Rally(CPRR) and meet some more of us MOC members and enjoy some Nebraska hospitality. Check us out here on the Forum and watch for more announcements of up and coming happenings at the CPRR. Glad that first real outing was a success and we hope you have many more!

Rainer, your rig looks great. Hope you have many safe travels and adventures with it. Envious as we someday want to get to Utah.

The sign was my buddy's birthday gift which we celebrated (for 3 days) up there. His wife found it online and snuck it aboard their Cougar where he never found it!

Your 600 mile trip was like our 1000 mile round trip to pick ours up three weeks ago. I'll always drive 1000 miles to save $10,000.
And don't worry, it'll work out, you'll love it!

The layout was exactly what we were looking for in a new RV. We looked a many units and couldn't believe how unnatural many of them were. The 343RL addressed everything we wanted. And now it has proven itself to be the perfect RV for us.

What a way to start the memories... positive experiences. Enjoy the good times and learn something from the bad times, but there' no beating RVing!
