Trim Across Slide

The trim over one my slides fell off on one end. Should I nail or use screws to firmly re-attach.

First decide why it's loose. Repair that and then glue it , if possible.

Since it's a 2011 I assume that it is still under warranty. If so, I would bring it to a dealer and find out why it came off and have them fix it.

If you are talking about the trim that goes from one side of the slide to the other and sits atop the trim pieces that attach to each side of the slide then I would caution against using any glue because you (or a tech) may need to remove these trim pieces to remove the slide.

We drilled 3/8" holes, one each in the middle between the left side and the center and also between the right side and the center. The holes are only about a 1/4" deep: just enough for a plug to be inserted into it (you can get these from any hardware store, such as Home Depot). The plugs are oak and have a rounded cap on them which will cover the hole.

We also strategically put screws in the side pieces - one near the top and one near the bottom where the plug is least noticed.

We stained the plug and it just sort of recedes into the background.

In the hole we used a drywall screw to re-attach the trim to the slide and also put in a couple more finish nails. The plug is just pushed into the hole so that it can be removed and so can the screw.
