RV Tire Safety

The title is Roger Marble's blog on RV Tire Safety

He is looking for some input on personal experience with the Mission tires.

Anyone care to assist him in his endeavor?

I sent him an email as he requested. If anybody else tries an email, don't forget to change the "(at)" to just plain "@".

The following is my email to Roger and his reply:

A link to your site was posted on the Montana Owners Forum about your search for information on Mission tires.

A few years ago Keystone Montana used Mission tires with many forum members reporting failures. Most have replaced those tires due to age if not failure. I personally have no first hand information as my first Montana was an '04 and it had Tacoma LT tires. My '10 Montana has Goodyear Marathons.

While the quest for Mission tire failure information is noble, it may be a little late, as I don't believe Mission tires are being sold anymore. (at least under that name) and have probably been replaced due to age.

In my opinion, if you are going to investigate ST tire failures, look into Goodyear Marathons. These tires are still being manufactured (in China) and have a high rate of failure with heavier rv's.

Many Montana owners have had failures causing considerable damage to their rigs. Another source for Marathon failures is RV net.

REPLY:

If you follow the Montana forum and you see complaints on any brand tire the same information applies. No complaints means no investigation and no recall or action will take place without an investigation.

It sounds as if he will look at Marathon failures as well.

Won't be hard for him to find documented Marathon failures.

Well there are certainly members here that can document failures and many even have the pictures to prove it. Sure hope they come along and respond to this post.

Roger is a good engineer. He'll find the information and post it on his blog. He has some very good information on his web site.

Stay tuned.

I think I've got a dvd somewhere with pictures of our Mission tire that failed. Suppose I need to dig it out and send the picture to him. Like someone posted earlier...a little late to close the gate now, the cows are already out.
