Call Ocean Waves and see if you can get in. 1/3 the price of the KOA or Camp Hatteras and once over the dunes it's all the same beach. Ocean Waves is a smaller park and doesn't have all the Play Grounds and Club Houses of the other two. Farther down the Road is Sands of Time, a Passport America Camp Ground, it's on the Sound side. Haven't stayed there so don't know much about it. There are a couple of State Parks, but I don't think they offer any facilities.

It's been awhile since we were there. Outdoor pool and indoor pool plus a kiddie pool on one side of the park and the ocean on the other. You park your rig on cement and be careful not to go off the cement. Beautiful beach on one side of the campground and the Pamlico Sound on the other with boat ramp. Like I stated it has been about 10 years since we were there but we really liked it and would go there again if we were to go to the Outer Banks. We now go to Emerald Isle and stay at the Holiday Trav-L-Park. Both are a little expensive but you get what you pay for and to us both campgrounds are worth the price. We intend to go back to the Outer Banks and if we do, we would stay at there in a heart beat.....enjoy the beach no matter which CG you go to.

Thanks for the info. We are Coast to Coast members and can stay there economically. Just wanted some unbiased opinion.

We stayed at Camp Hatteras last fall and loved it, we are planning to go there again in the fall on our way to Florida. We were on the ocean side and loved hearing the surf at night.

Give it a try.......

We stayed there two years ago. The campground was great. Weather was BAD. Stromed all week until the day we left. This was in May and the temps. stayed in the 40-50s with wind and rain. But we still a\had a good time. Love the lighthouses.
