Have not done it yet, but was thinking about it. My little hunting camp trailer I take out west every year takes a beating. From the stuff the truck throws up to rocks and dirt flying from passing vehicles. I haven't heard anyone commenting on this. I figured the ones that have gone to Alaska would say more.

When I lived in Alaska I went to a local shop that did upholstery and other leather work. They fabricated a naugahyde (sp?) cover, color matched to the TT. They mounted about 6 snaps on it and my TT so I could take it on and off as necessary. Very durable, gave great protection from all of the rocks we had to deal with up there. It cost a couple of hundred dollars (1998), but was well worth protecting my camper.
I probably have a pic somewhere if you want me to e-mail it to you, since I don't know how to post pics here! PM me if you want it.

I put a rock guard on the TV. Does a great job of stopping rocks and other hiway crap.

I have not traveled many thousand miles like some here have, but I don't get much thrown on the front of the rig. We keep to the paved roads and do not travel many gravel roads. I do have mud flaps all around my TV which I think helps a lot. I wish they made bug flaps to protect the front cap from all the bugs as we travel down the road. I have seen the diamond plate on other rigs such as the Arctic Fox 5ers.

Have you priced diamond plate? It's priced like diamonds. I had a trailer with it on the front and after a few years it began to look kind of scruffy. The white naugahyde sounds interesting or as noted above a good rock guard on the truck.

One of my previous travel trailers I was getting a lot of rock chips, I took it to a bedliner shop and had them spray Rhino liner on about three feet of the front. It worked very well and looked pretty good. If I remember it was not that expensive. Then a year or so later knocked a hole in the rear fiberglass cap, patched it up a bit, and sprayed it with Rhino liner, the trailer at that point looked like it was designed that way ,the front and back matched.

After lots of miles, we don't have any marks on the trailer. A good set of mud flaps made all the difference. They are pricey too, but the truck looks so kewl!
Duraflaps.

I second the Duraflaps. Almost two years and we still have no marks on the trailer.

I ran over a dead michelin man and mud flaps be danged that hunk of rubber came up and cracked the door on the front of the unit, in fact it punched a hole through it. I just love the 18 wheeler rejects laying around the American highways. At least now I know how thick the front compart door is and it allows a little more ventalation to the generator.
