GELCOAT FINISH

How come Keystone uses the filon finish on all the exterior storage compartment doors even when you order the high gloss gelcoat fiberglass finish on the trailer exterior? When I ordered my 2008 Montana 3400RL, I upgraded the exterior with the optional high gloss gelcoat but was disappointed when the storage compartment doors didn't have the same finish. My friend has an 2005 Big Sky and his storage doors are finished with the high gloss gelcoat the same as the rest of the exterior. If Keystone put the high gloss on the Big Sky compartment doors, why wouldn't they do it on the Montana? Anybody have any comments?

Nope, they've been doing it that way for years. Probably keep doing it that way until we start fussing about it...saving a buck or two.

My guess is it is one of the "few" differentiators between the Montana and Big Sky models. The painted exterior and leather furniture are about the onlyt two other items not available on the Montana as options.

It was kind of dissapointing. Note that the sides of the slides are filon too. I don't know about Big Sky.

However - my dealer tried to order the doors in gelcoat, and I tried myself through Napannee. I even have the numbers. No go. But now- I can order them for the Big Sky and they fit, but I've lost interest already.

Our 2003 3295RK came with gelcoated locker doors. Our 2007 3400RL did not. It came as you described. I found out you can purchase gel-coated doors through your dealer. In 2006 they ran about $1000. We have them and they look nice.

I think this is one area Keystone should step up and change. It takes a really nice looking rig and screams "cheap" to anyone who notices it. I wonder how many have moved on to Cardinal or other brands because of this.
