Mini Freezer

I am considering a mini-freezer for the washer/dryer closet in the 3475RL. Does any one have any experience with these items? I know Sears hasa few models that don't look that expensive. My objective is to prepare for our 2007 Alaska trip--plan on bring back some FISH!!

I have a 5 cu. ft. freezer that I bought from Lowe's for about $160. It is
23-1/2w x 25-1/2"d x 34"h. It will fit inside the w/d closet with the folding doors removed but we carry it in front of the LR slide. We wanted the w/d closet for other storage.

Last year returning from Oklahoma with it full, I watched it with a wireless thermometer and the temperature rise for 8 hours on the highway during May was

Sounds like we have the same size as Charlie and paid about the same price at Best Buy. It is a Haier brand.Saw many of them in Hospitals and Nursing homes and was told they are very reliable.Holds about 150lbs or so of stuff. We have a W/D in the 3400 so we keep the freezer back were a recliner chair would be.Got about the same results with the temp drop from a temp of 0 degrees. We see no problem. Just a note on the freezer.. Ran 8 hours todat with the A/c power off..Freezer full of frozen stuff. Temp when turned off - 2, temp when A/C restored +2.. lost 4 degrees in 8 hours.

I have the Avanti 3.2 cubic feet upright freezer. Sits right next to the dining room table. Doubles as the "coffee bar" with the espresso machine on top of it!

Timandsusan, I went to Alaska this summer. I had a small 3.5 cu.ft. freezer made by Avanti. It was okay, just made alot of noise. While in Alaska, I had filled that freezer with salmon and I bought another freezer in Anchorage at Sears, a 7 cu.ft. that fits perfect in my w/d closet. I sold the smaller avanti and kept the one from Sears. It is an upright not a chest.
Check it out, it would definitely be my choice.

We had a blast in Alaska and I am ready to go back. I had some salmon on the grill tonight. I caught so many salmon, halibut, and razor clams that if you like to fish you are in for a treat.

Timandsusan, I can't recommend a freezer but I just want to say that if you like to fish, you're absolutely doing the right thing by taking along a freezer. You'll be able to fill it up in no time. The lack of freezer space and the expense of shipping fish home kept us from fishing more which was a terrible shame. Catch a big one! We'll definitely have a freezer if we return.

We have the 3475 also and bought the small small Avanti freezer from http://www.Compactappliance.com It fits nicely on top of our washer/dryer and holds about the same amount as the freezer of the refrigerator that comes with the Tana. It costs less then $150.00 I use it for ice cubes and bread and then have room for ice cream and fish in the fridge.

We have 3.2 Summit which we paid $160 for, same as everybody else, it definitely keeps things frozen for many hours while power off in transit. It fits nicely in the washer/dryer closet. Lots of good ones out there that are inexpensive. We normally give Schwans Foods a call when we get settled in, and it is great because they come right to the rv site with lots of frozen goodies. Even though the freezeer is only 3.2, we find it perfect for the overflow from the regular frig/freezer.
