No island wanted!
Hope that this is not sacrilegious to ask this on a Montana site but my friend is in the market for a new 35-36 foot fifth wheel that does NOT have an kitchen island. Does anyone know if there is one out there?

We didn't have an Island in our 2010 2955RL and it fit right in that size range.

Islands are all the rage right now. I'd look for a used one.

Yep, when trends get started it's hard to swim against the current.
The very first island we encountered was years 2.5 years ago in a Columbus model 320. We both agreed instantly that would be something in our next chosen floor plan. We had a real problem with this model though because this particular island was on casters so one could roll it around and then lock it down in the position you wanted it. Already fighting with those swivel/rocker/recliners at the back of our rig we knew we didn't want another thing that had to be secured before each trip.
Columbus still makes this model so your friend could simply take the island out and store it until down the road it was time to trade/sell again. Actually after awhile they might warm up to the trend of an island and they could reinstall it without having to trade again!!!

The 3100 may be the one for your friend. It is 35'3", I think, in length and the island that is in the unit is movable. It rolls around, again if I'm not mistaken, and can be removed from the Monte if they want to do that.

I believe Rondo is correct on that.

If I read this correct your friend is not wanting an island. so they can look at the entry level or cheaper brands, they usually do not have islands they are the campers that are in the LITE class, but doing that they will not see any of the upgrades (Double door fridge, convection microwave, hard surface countertops, usually they have dinettes that make in to the beds. ETC. so there are options out there. ohh. for got to add I have a 331rlt and my island moves around and my DW and myself love that feature.

We also have the 331RLT and this was the exact reason we picked this particular model. We were looking at the 2015's but when we found out the island is now attached to the floor went back and found a 2014 that was available. Our plan was to remove the island but once we started using it found it really convenient to be able to move it where we wanted and it's really not that much trouble to store for travel.

Thank you, fellow Montana owners. As always, you have been a great help. Ever since my friend and his wife had seen the openess of my 2004 3670RL, they are having a real issue with the island concept. Of course, Montana discontinued that model---I guess not enough people liked it! I have passed your ideas off to him. Thanks, again!

Our 3585SA is a rear kitchen with MUCH counter space and no island. Unfortunately it also was discontinued in 2013. Glad we got ours before!

My Mountaineer 358rlt has the walk around island and I absolutely love it. Would not like the connected island because the DH would always be in my way. I could not do without the storage and counter space. Just my opinion.

During our first winter in our 2955 we decided we wanted more counter and an Island was the perfect solution for us, but at that time Montana didn't have one, so we ended up in our SOB and wouldn't be without the counter.

THEN WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO WITH THE HOLES IN THE FLOOR THROUGH THE VINYL? Think about it!
