AC filters

I hope I am not over looking a already posted post, but where are the filters for a 2014 3625re Montana? ( Living room AC ) Are they located in the return air vents. If so do you have to loosen the screws to get them out and are they re-usable. Thanks in advance. Joe

Here is the current discussion on A/C filters. http://www.montanaowners.com/forums/...ad.php?t=59179 They are located in the air return vents in the ceiling.

Not sure about the new ones. On our's the return air cover with the filter behind it just pops out wit a couple clip like holders on one side and flanges on the other side.

thanks all, yes my bedroom ac does have the two clip drop down filter removal. My living room is the duct-ed with the two return vents in the ceiling. No access to the AC unit. I think the post by davidaf tells me what I needed as they are behind the covers. Just got to figure out what they are made of and how to to remove them. thanks. Joe

Mine are held on by two screws, each vent.

Hi Joe, Remove the grills from the ceiling by removing 2 screws each grill. The filter material is thin foam. I went to Lowes and bought a couple sheets of foam used in window a/c. I cut the foam the same size as the grills and reinstalled.

The original filters are stapled to a thin cardboard frame. I reused the cardboard frame and stapled the foam from Lowes to the frame.

I doubled the foam since the holes in the Lowes foam seemed larger than the OEM foam.

I also had to move the grills a bit since the original screw holes were stripped out.

Jim

Just went to Wally World and Lowes near our current location in South Carolina. Neither carried the filter material that we needed. The search continues! Bet I find it in a local ma and pa hardware store this afternoon.

As I posted on another thread, that is a problem with the box stores from now until next spring. They run out of filter material and don't buy more. That's why I stock up for the whole year in April or May.

We aren't worried if we can't find the material just now. It should be easily washable and reusable until we find the proper filter. What might be a concern is how many times the filter can be removed and replaced before the screw holes in the ceiling plaster board strips out and no longer holds.

Screw holes stripped out after only a coupla times. Installed metal thingys that are like molley bolts so I don't have to constantly move the vents around. Cardboard backing do not last long. Poor decision in design. Cheap fix.
