Mor/Ryde failed

We just returned from a long weekend out and noticed the Monty leaning to the left. After a quick look I didn't really see the problem so I backed it up on the cement pad and really looked around finding the rubber spring in the middle of the axle springs has split right down the middle allowing the trailer to drop on the driver side. With about 4000 miles on the 2014 37&1/4 I was pretty shocked that this has happened our old 3400 never had this issue but I do understand things sometimes fail. I called our selling dealer C/W of Las Vegas and sent them pictures and explained it's not safe to tow like this and they agreed with me and decided to send me the part and I will install it here as I have the jacks and tools required to do the job. So if your Monty leans over and the springs and shackles are where they should be take a look at the center mor/ryde rubber block you to may run into the same problem. Many thanks to C/W for jumping right on this for me we shouldn't be down very long at all.

I took the rubber blocks on our '10 model out and thoroughly inspected them when I installed a wet bolt kit last year. There were some very superficial cracks on one and none at all on the other. I wanted to be sure of them after reading someone else having a failure. Haven't seen or heard of any others though.

This one spilt down the center no cracks allowing the trailer to drop at least 2 inches shackles hitting the frame I have never seen this happen but I have seen cracks in our older 3400 all superficial . I just figured I got the bad one from the factory I have seen many new parts fail during my career driving trucks. The cool part was the dealer getting right on this so we won't be out of order for long.

To me it sounds like the dealer took the easy/cheap way out. They should have sent someone out to install too.

I had a Mor-Ryde block nearly cracked through after 6 months. I was on my creeper checking underneath the RV (U Bolt torque, grease in wet bolts, etc.) when I spotted the problem. Mor-Ryde warrants the shear block for two years so the dealer should supply them for free. I crawl under there every 6 months now looking for another problem. Three years and the rest are doing fine.

We had one fail on the drivers side at less than 8,000 miles. The manufacturer had me send them a pic and then sent me a new spring shear. It was kind of fun to replace it...of course, I had brand new H load rated wheels/tires sitting on the grass just waiting to be put on the monty. And I wanted to be rid of the Marathons as quick as possible so the incentive was there to have fun. John

During our trip out west we had experienced some pretty rough roads (California) so I did an inspection underneath. Tightened a couple suspension bolts but didn't really examine all the rubber components. Guess I had better get back under there and do a little better inspection.

I replaced mine this spring. I posted a topic on it with photos, but the search function doesn't work for me. Like mentioned, most all of us will have a few surface cracks ... it's the deep cracks and or total failure that's the issue. It's pretty easy to swap them out. I was sent new ones at no charge that were a bit more dense (higher durometer number) than what the factory installed. Here's a shot of the one that failed. The cracks underneath aren't the issue ... the separation gap top left hand was the actual failure.

I am quite disappointed in Mor/ryde in their response or lack of, about not getting grease into at least 2 of the zerks. Sent an e-mail on 7-14-14 and still no response. Have tried jacking up trailer, different grease guns, trying to spin wet bolt, not successful and think it might be that they weren't drilled clear through. THEY installed them in 2010 and obviously didn't check to see if they would take grease.

Do *NOT* try to spin the wet bolts. They have splined shoulders and are designed to be immoveable. The only option art this point is the remove them and verify they are completely drilled through. A number of folks have found theirs were not.

Morryde admitted to me this past December that the rear wet bolts do fail and will not take any grease. I have been greasing mine every year--usually just after our summer adventures. So, I ordered 2 replacements and had CW install them. This maybe what you are experiencing. Something else to keep an eye on.

The rear ones are the ones that won't take grease. One of the other wet bolts did spin when trying to loosen the nut. I guess I need to put more pressure on Mor/ryde to get me 2 new wet bolts. They installed them at factory so I figure they owe me some new ones. Maybe I'll have camping world install if they know how. RV Corral, my dealer didn't know what I was talking about when I mentioned "wt bolts".

While installing the wet bolt system I noticed the 3/4" by 3" tear in one if the rubber springs. Ordered one from Mor/Ryde. $129.00 + shipping.
I will change it out next week.

When I called Mor/Ryde about where to buy a rubber spring the
man was very helpful. Checked to make sure I wasn't under warrenty,
said he would sell me the spring. Took 4 business days. I was worried about how flimsy the Xfactor was but after working on the
Flimsy frame, it’s an improvement.

Good news to report all parts came today two new shear springs and shackles plus wet bolts. My hat is off to Camping World of Las Vegas for fast warranty service they are first class by my book. I have no problem doing the replacement for them I have all the tools and shop space to do it in. Once again very happy with my selling dealer even though I live 12 hours away from them they worked with me to get back on the road.
