"Welcome Home Brothers"

When we were just children, she rose above others, held all the world's respect, our nation, our mother.
Oh!, what a beauty in her shawl of three colors.
Of bravery, purity, and loyalty they were, specially designed for no
one but her.
Our mother, our darling we were so proud of her.
Our fathers and grandfathers and many before, loved her and served her through many a war.
So we pledged our allegiance and sang the anthem to her.
Too soon she called us to go fight for her.
We were trained in the arts and tactics of war.
We were told that she loved us as all warriors before.
So, to Vietnam we went to defend her once more.
We went without question like others before.
We fought and we cried, we bled, and we died.
We served her with dignity, honor, and pride.
So far from our loved ones who took it in stride.
Surely she would keep them safe from all harm, and when we returned, greet us with open arms.
Yet she was fickle, or so it did seem, what most of us saw was not a warm scene.
It was to anger and hatred, yes we were spurned, called war mongers, or baby killers, or simply not seen.
When we needed her most, she seemed simply not there, leaving us alone, ourselves to repair.
So, we struggled and wondered and inwardly cried, beleiving it to be the way of an American warrior's pride.
So we brought up our families, her anthem to sing, to pledge her allegiance was surely the right thing.
Now that we've aged and know her so well, we understand that she loved us through all of that hell.
When she seemed to forsake us and push us away, 'twas her politicians made her seem that way.
They quit and they ran and they explained it away.
For them to save face they layed it at our feet, their wilting, their cowardice, they called our defeat.
We must remember it all and remember it well, we won all the battles , we lived through the hell.
'Twas her politicians made her seem failed.
Our blood red of bravery, bright white of purity, and true blue of loyalty stood true to the test.
Like warriors of all ages, we were America's best.
So, brothers let's love her, defend her and bring back her best, while we stand shoulder to shoulder against all protests.
We must be brave red, pure white, true blue and again meet the test, 'tis the only way we shall ever have rest.
So "Welcome Home Brothers", stand tall, like "The Wall", true patriots, Mom's best.

Very Moving......It is up to each one of us to never again disgrace our Heroes who are fighting for our freedom everyday.

It takes but 3 seconds to walk up to a soldier and thank them for their service to our Great Nation!

GOD Bless the USA!

Fantastic! I left Nam at the end of my second tour on the same day the Paris accords were signed. Seems like yesterday.
