Over 200,000 miles? What oil did you use?
I know there is a topic concerning what oil to use and there are many favorites and opinions but many of those people don't keep their vehicle long enough to really give their oil a test. Our 2001 8.1 liter Silverado had 213,000 miles on it, has good compression and still runs good using Mobil 1. What oil do you feel gave your vehicle a long life?

Only had one go over 200,000 and it was a 1987 Ford Bronco 5.0. 208,000 miles and no problems except a timing chain at 205,000. Next closest was a 1997 F150 5.0 that I traded at 148,000 with no problems. Both never had any thing but Pennzoil 10W40 in them.

IMHO, it's not which oil, but regular maintenance that is the key to long vehicle life.

I have a friend who owns a 350 Chevy with 1,000,010 miles on it the original engine lasted over 700,000 miles. He still has the original engine and now he is retired he is going to restore his old truck.

Old truck, 1997 Ford F350 PSD, 250,000 miles on it when I went for a new truck. Ran the Delo 400 in it. Still going strong. Changed the oil every 3 to 5 thousand miles.

We used Mobil 1 in our gas tow trucks. We used Rotella in our diesels. Rarely ever replacing either under 500,000.

Put over 250,000 on a 2002 ford 7.3. Rotella, changed every 3000 miles or 90 days, whichever came first. Firmly believe clean oil and filters key to diesel long life. Despite Ford specs, I change my own oil on my diesels much sooner than Ford recommends.

I used anything I could get my hands on in my 1979 Chevy Custom van 350 gas motor and at 130,000 miles it ran like a top and did not burn a drop of oil. Unfortunately it burned to the ground due to a defective heater motor. I really liked that truck.

I have 2004 f550 6.0 Diesel with 315,000 Miles the engine still has good compression and runs well. Won't go into how much the truck cost in other repairs to get those miles. I started with Delo 15/40 for about 100.000 miles and finished off with Rotella. After advice from my mechanic who said all the engines with Rotella were cleaner than the engines with Delo.

209,000 on our 99 Park Ave. with the 3800 engine, mostly short trip driving. Oil was whatever the service station used, mostly Penzoil. 226,000 miles on the old 94 5.9 litre Cummins farm truck. Car was serviced at 3000 miles. That old Dodge 3500 was serviced whenever someone got around to it, usually around the 5000 mile mark. Both are still running great. I wish they looked as good as they run. (Wisconsin Salt, you know)!!!!
