Trailer wiring fault
When the power cord is NOT connected to the truck I will get "trailer wiring fault" on the truck readout. When the [power cord IS connected to the truck all is normal.Everything works..no trouble fault.
At times I get the fault when I start up the truck I can ALWAYS get the fault by tapping the brake.
My guess is that we have a bad or no ground in the truck wiring and it is picking up a ground from the trailer.
It is a rats nest of wiring under the truck.
Any ideas or thoughts???

I re-read your post and now understand. I had a recent problem with an interment type problem and it was loose wire on the brake magnet.

Rich,
I had the same problem on my 08, it was the plug that plugs in the lower rear receptical at the bumper, it had water in it. They had it tied up wrong, water would get in but couldnt run out. I pulled it apart, blew the water out, sprayed it with ignition dry, turned it over and tied it back up. No more problems.

Rich, I also recently had this exact issue. And I got the fault message when I used the right turn signal, but not the left. William is dead on correct. When I disassembled my receptacle under the bumper water fell out. I blew it out good and added waterproof grease to fill any gaps. So far it's been fine. Good luck, and let us know how you make out.

i was aware on that TSB... I am taking it into Ford next week to have it checked out. My fix may be temporary. remember I get this fault without the Montana being hooked up.
