Goodyear G Series Tires
I have a couple of questions about the Goodyear G Series tires. First, if I read the sidewall correctly, it said 110 psi minimum. So, what pressure are you running in those bad boys? Also, for tire pressure monitoring, what do you run min, max and temperature alert? I am sure there will be more than one opinion on this. Thanks in advance.

rames14,
That instruction on the tire is referring to the min rim strength i.e. it must have at least 3750 lbs load capacity and able to withstand at least 110 psi.
. . . least that's the way I (and my Goodyear dealer) read it.

Ron,
Ref the TPMS I have my max about 20lbs higher then the desired level and the min at least 10 and on the trailer 15 to 20 lower, I do run my tires at 80 lbs on the trailer. I find the tire pressure does fluctuate a lot with outside temperature. When I ran the limits closer I got what I call false alarms. My reason for having them is to check the pressure when I start and then alarm if I have a leak or tire failure. As far as temperature for the TPMS I use what ever my bottom level is and think that is about 160 deg.
Hope this helps. Again just my opinion.

Thanks, John. So Jerry, what are you running your Goodyears at for pressure?

Check that sidewall again to see if it doesn't say max load of 3750 lb at 110 psi. If you check the specs, they will base the pressure on the load the tire carries. Your tire can be overinflated, with resulting wear and handling problems, if you run 110 psi and only have a 3000 lb load.
Secondarily, the rim should handle the maximum pressure that the tire would see.

Okay, mine are about 100 cold. I set 85 as the low pressure and I think 135 as the max.

I set mine at 80 pounds cold and when they heat up going down the road they show 90 - 92 pounds.

I run my G614s at 100- 102 psi. Have been since I bought them in 2007. Tires have worn evenly. Replacement time after one more good trip to Colorado in April. They are about 4 years old even though they look fine, it time.

Ron, we had our rig weighed at each wheel at the 2009 rally in Goshen. Based on those weights the Goodyear inflation table for the G614 says the heaviest should have 105 psi. So I put all five at 110 to allow a cushion for altitude changes and should a tire lose a little pressure over time. Plus, checking the pressure with a gauge causes a tiny pressure loss each time it's checked. We've had these G614's just over a year and about 9,000 miles of travel and they've never had to have any air added. They're each between 105 and 110.
As someone noted, the 110 min figure you saw is for the rim rating.

Firetruck you are correct the tire does read that, as to load. What I was referring to, and what I interpreted as the question concerned the other sidewall marking which says "warning mount only on rim with 3750 lbs and 110 psi min capacity."
